" Post A Comment" Box in blogging site

This morning , while going thru site , I came across a ( Welcome ? ) anomaly !
Normally , below each blog , inside a black strip , there is a link “ No Comments “
Clicking on this reveals the “ Post A Comment “ heading with the comment box becoming visible
If however , let us say there are 2 comments already posted , then , instead of “ No Comments “ , it will read “ Two Comments “ – clicking of which will reveal those comments , along with the comment box ( check this out )
This  arrangement is fairly common on many blogging sites
Now the anomaly :
Go to,
Notes > 1986 > Dec > Suggestion scheme / Conservation of Electric Power / Sun rises in the West  ….etc
Here , you will find that below each blog , the “ Post A Comment “ box is ALREADY OPEN !
No need to click on “ No Comments “ link to open the box !

I have seen this OPEN INVITATION arrangement on a few blogging sites
I think this is a great idea
By revealing the Comment Box up front ( without having to figure out where it is hidden and how to locate it ) , the visitor would be motivated to post his comments
On internet , no one has time to experiment / search / figure out , anything !
I request you to make this change on ALL the pages ( existing and future ) and adopt it as a STANDARD PRACTICE
If you need any help from Shivanand , he should be available at LTIT on Monday. Of course , you may contact Shuklendu for help , if you are in a hurry
We will NOT send out those 25,000 Senior Executive promo emails till we have carried out this change

We have always known which direction we are headed

In the meantime , in other developments at my end ,

Ø Our Database of Companies / Employers Recruitment Agencies in RESUME BLASTER app went up from 1,12,000  to 2,25,543  and the no of Cities ( where these Companies are located ) went up from 656  to  1251 !

           This means a user of Resume Blaster app can now blast his resume – and absolutely FREE – to nearly TWICE the no of companies / cities , covering most of the companies in majority of the towns in all the States

Ø    I plan to launch by Nov 2013 , following web sites,

·        B2BmessageBlaster

·        B2CmessageBlaster

              6  months  after these get launched , I expect the no of Companies in our database to cross 500,000

             There will also be a Mobile App for B2B

Ø Yesterday , I also launched my personal web site  www.hemenparekh.in

After carrying out some cosmetic improvements , I plan to send out promotional emails to some 25,000 Senior Executives , with whom , 3P Consultants have interacted with over the past 23 years

I hope by now , you must have discussed and finalized your strategy with Amit

Our mobile Apps / My Jobs / Resume Blaster

This has reference to telecom that Nitin ( Sentient Systems ) had with you last week re this matter
I also discussed this with Shuklendu / Nitin when I visited their office yesterday
Based on this , the following is suggested :

Ø My Jobs

           As you are aware , this app was developed by HP Labs – Bangalore , based upon their proprietary Tasklet Technology
          It was partially dependent on their Cloud Server in USA
         A few weeks back , we were advised that , HP Labs-India operations are being wound up and the engineers being re-allocated to HP’s other divisions
         Also that they will not be able to support My Jobs for more than a few weeks
        In light of this development , we are left with no choice other than re-developing My Jobs entirely on our own – and without using Tasklet Technology
       We have thought of converting this sad news into an opportunity !
       By combining both the apps ( My Jobs and recently launched Resume Blaster ) into a single app – with some advanced user-friendly features
      We expect this combined app to be ready by Oct / Nov 2013

Ø Integrating with Airpush SDK

We appreciate your suggestion that we integrate our Apps ( current app “ Resume Blaster “ as also future combined App ) with Airpush SDK to earn higher revenue, which will accrue due to Airpush’s CPM model , as opposed to InMobi’s CTR model

We believe you have such SDK for integration , with the condition that you will share with us 50% of the revenue that you earn thru our apps

You will earn this revenue from apps-usage by users of Ubislate tablets

Whereas I have no issue with this arrangement suggested by you , I wish to bring to your notice the following facts :

·        In last 30 months , Datawind has shipped out 500,000 + Ubislate tablets , duly pre-loaded with My Jobs to the retail ( non-government ) market

·        Despite this , there is neither any awareness / nor any real usage of My Jobs by Datawind Customers

                  In this 30 months , all that RecruitGuru has earned in its InMobi Account is less than $ 2 / -

·        We also managed to convince Swipe Telecom and Teracom to pre-load My Jobs on all their products. Even this has not helped

·        We have sent out some 30 lakh promo emails to our database of 47 lakh jobseekers – to no avail

·        Now that My Jobs , in its current AVATAR will soon die , we have stopped promoting it and instead started promoting Resume Blaster

           Personally for me , last 2 years have been the most frustrating years of my entire career , spanning 54 years !
          May be we erred somewhere , but I am determined not to give up
          And considering all these facts ,  I have agreed to share with Sentient Systems , 25 % of whatever I earn in future from all the apps
That means , from the 50 % that Datawind will pass on to me , 12.5 % will go to Shuklendu , leaving only 37.5% for RecruitGuru

Then there could be similar revenue-sharing demands from other tablet / smart phone manufacturers !

Then the whole effort becomes unviable !

In light of the foregoing , I would request you to reconsider the aspect of revenue share from Resume Blaster ( immediately ) and from the Combined App by Oct

Entirely foregoing your 50% share will not even make a tiny dent in Datawind”s overall revenue , whereas , for me and Shuklendu , it will determine whether we continue with such development or not !

Here it is :

Ø RESUME  BLASTER ( Online and Mobile App )

           This week , the total no of Companies / Recruiting Agencies in our database , went up from approx  1,12,000  to 2,25,532
           And the no of Cities ( where these Companies are located ) , went up from 656  to  1251
          This means , a candidate who is “ registered ( Submitted Resume ) on www.CustomizeResume.com , can now blast his resume to , nearly twice the no of     Employers in twice the no of Cities ! FREE too
And from his Android Smartphone

This became possible , thanks to a lot of effort put in over past 6 months by Tushar , Kailas and of late by Manoj .

Ø Upload on CustomizeResume , like the earlier batch of 47 lakhs

Ø Enable creation of Mailing Lists ( of Consumers ) in B2C web site under development by LTIT students , where the “ Selection Parameters “ ( which you will find in the relevant U/I design ) are :

·        Gendre

·        Employment Status

·        Designation Level

·        Edu Quali Level

·        Experience Level

·        Age Group

My choice of the above-mentioned “ Selection Parameters “ was governed by what fields / data was available to us in the 47 lakh existing records

But ,

If this new database ( of 100 lakh records ) , being offered by Amit is more comprehensive and enables many more “ Selection Parameters “ ( in order to Zero-in on sharply defined demographic target group ) , then it would be a tremendous advantage.

Nitin / Rahul should study these databases from the above perspective of B2C website

Although the asking price for these 100 lakh records is Rs 12,000 / - , I am sure ,I can bring it down thru bargaining

Most important thing is to establish its usability in B2C

Let us not hurry to upload those 200 + Notes which Rajesh has typed
As it is , by now , we have sufficient content / variety on the site
I suggest you spend today , to attend to improving the site’s “ Look and Feel “ ( cosmetically ) by attending to :

Ø  Standardization of Fonts ( Verdana ) / 14 for the main text and 12 for the left / right navigation bars

Ø  “ Section Links “ ( viz: Home / Notes / Blogs and Poems ) must appear on each and every page – as is the case in CustomizeResume. Currently , these links are missing on the page for “ Poems “.

Ø  On Poems page , some texts in left side navigation bar are showing up in BLACK color !

If we can complete this work by evening , then I propose to send out promo email to those 25,000 Senior Executives in 3P’s database , for which , I will send to you revised draft by evening
As far as 47 lakh candidates are concerned , it does not matter and you may continue with the present blast
