RE: My Jobs Widget

Hi Shuklendu

Currently, in the jobs widget when an advert is clicked the url ‘http://www.customizeresume.com/Jam/widgetadvertclick.aspx?PENID=<pen id>&AdNetwork=InMobi&SlotNo=<slot no>’ is called and entries are made in the customizeresume database.

Suggestion : Can you please add a job to the jobs list for that login, when a call is made to this api? Therefore no changes would be needed in the widget.

This change needs to be done in the widget.

When candidate clicks a product advert, widget calls an url at server. The server program adds one more job alert to the candidate’s list. Widget can get the job alert list with this additional job by calling the server job alert page. This has to be incorporated in the widget.

After delivering 5 jobs , we are insisting that the user clicks / touches a product advt in order to receive one more job alert

This is quite reasonable

But

Why do we make him to log out – then once again login , before he can see that one more job ?

That is adding unnecessary “ friction “ in the , otherwise “ smooth “ process, and must irritate the user ! He must feel as if he is being “ punished “ !

Ideally , he should get to see that additional job immediately after closing the product advt

In this age of “ Everything Instant “ , users’ expectations are very HIGH and their frustration threshold, very LOW ! Patience is not a virtue anymore

Can we do something about this ? Remember , we get only ONE chance to make a GOOD FIRST IMPRESSION

Our Next Android App

Dear Siddharth

This has ref to our telecom , this morning

As mentioned , we are in the process of developing our next Android-based App , “ RESUME BLASTER “

Ever since I launched our job portal 2 years back , we had this feature / functionality online at Blast Your Resume

Over this period , our server has delivered ( FREE ), some 2,68,283 resumes to approx 59,000 employers / recruiters

But I always asked myself :

What about those millions of jobseekers located in regions of India with nil / negligible broadband penetration ?

They cannot access my job portal or for that matter , any other job portal

That makes them , “ Non-Consumers “ of job related info

They do not have a “ level playing field “ vis-à-vis their city-based cousins

RESUME BLASTER widget will enable them to forward their resumes to these 59,000 employers , directly from their smart phones ! And FREE too !

Here I am particularly thinking of some 3.6 Million fresh graduates coming out of the colleges of

India

every year ( - nearly 10,000 / day ! ) – 90 % of whom are struggling to find a job – ANY job , anywhere , with any company , in any industry , at any salary , and any designation!

Even those amongst these 36 lakhs who are “ Employable “, - how can they “ announce “ their “ existence “ to 59,000 Corporates ?

I think RESUME BLASTER will give them this opportunity

May be , someday , we will enable jobseekers from any part of the world to be able to blast their resumes to employers in any other part of the world – and FREE

I am acutely conscious that Resume Blaster cannot / will not create more jobs

But it will greatly help the owners of smart phones

What is ZINC Exchange ?

Can it serve advts on My Jobs widget which get installed on smart phones ?

Apart from Datawind ( manufacturers of Aakash / Ubislate tablets ) , I am also talking to a no of other Android Smart phone manufacturers for pre-installing this widget

Since , I will be delivering the daily job alerts to smart phone users , FREE , I am looking at advts as a source of revenue

Please allow me to make following additional observations in connection with my request to act as a “ Publisher “ of Zedo :

Ø I am NOT looking for publishing advts on my web site since I am acutely aware that it does not have the required visitor traffic at the moment

Ø My interest is to use My Jobs Widget as the medium for displaying Zedo advts on Android Smart phones / Tablets

Ø I am already in discussions with several manufacturers of Smart phones / Tablets to PRE-INSTALL this widget on their devices BEFORE shipping

Ø I have already received encouraging response so far from

· LAVA Mobile

· Videocon Mobile

· Spice Mobile

Ø As far as Datawind ( Aakash / Ubislate Tablets ) is concerned , Mr Suneet Tuli , CEO – Datawind, has confirmed to me that , starting this month-end, Datawind will pre-install My Jobs Widget on ALL their tablets coming out of their factories ( Hyderabad / Cochin / Noida ).

Ø In an interview from Panama, a few days back, Mr Tuli has announced plans to step-up production of tablets to 75,000 per month from Sept

Ø The “ Value Proposition “ of My Jobs is unique in that , it not only delivers perfectly matched jobs on the users’ screens but also enables users to “ apply “ against any or all of those jobs , by simply touching ‘ APPLY “ button ! There is absolutely nothing comparable in the market

Ø As per author Chuck Martin [ The Third Screen ] , the mobile Apps which are most likely to succeed are the “ Finder “ type of apps as against the “ Searcher “ type apps ( eg: Apps from TimesJobs / MonsterIndia / Indeed.com etc ). The USP of My Jobs Widget is that it is a “ Finder “ type app

Ø The small screen of a mobile is totally unsuitable to

· Enter a no of “ Search Parameters “

· Find hundreds of job advts

· One-by-one , open and read each of those advts to figure out which 5 are most suitable for me ( takes few hours even on a PC screen ! )

· The Apply – if there is a provision ( MonsterIndia App does NOT have even this provision ! What can you do with job alerts ? )
