Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

With regards,

Dear Avinash ,

Although I do not understand everything that you write , I do read those parts that I understand

I started my second " innings " after retiring from L&T in 1990

On my own blog-site (  www.hemenparekh.in  ) , I am giving expression to my " outside interests "

Warm Regards,

Dear  Friend :

At the age of 82 , I feel inclined to share my experience / ten thousand pages of notes / source codes etc , in the area of Online Recruitment

Without any obligation , what-so-ever

Why ?

If we want to bring peace to our country , torn with conflicts / militancy , then we must cooperate / collaborate to find jobs ( or Self Employment ) for everyone

 Jobs  for  All  =  Peace  on  Earth

My contribution is in the form of :

www.hemenparekh.in > Reports / Notes to Colleagues / World Wide Work

Notable among these are " Reports " on :

*   ResumesExchange

*   OnlineJobsFair

Apart from these , a few days back , we managed to revive , after lying dormant for 8 years ( re-host ) :

*   www.GlobalRecruiter.net  ( basically explaining a concept of cooperation
     among job portals )

*   www.IndiaRecruiter.net ( " Site Map " is the entrance to Treasure Island )
     ( some links are  not working or slow to load ! )

Take a look .

Already 3 recently launched Start Up job portals have downloaded these   SOURCE  CODES

I have also uploaded on DropBox , source codes / databases  for

*  GlobalRecruiter / IndiaRecruiter  , web sites

*  RecruitGuru , web site

  ( a parsing engine to convert a text resume into structured database )

Resume Rater  , (  a Resume Rating  tool  )

If you wish to download any of these Source Codes ( from DropBox ) , write to me and  I will send you the necessary links , hoping that you would improve upon these and , in turn , share with others  ! No obligation !

In the next few days , I also plan to upload ( on DropBox ) , source codes  for following  mobile apps :

*   My Jobs ( developed by HP but currently not supported )

*   Resume Blaster ( working )

If desired , I can send you the download links for these as well

with regards,

This is a very special week for me as my beloved blog Occam's Razor turned ten years old! Just looking at the numbers makes me feel in awe of what we can do together in that time...
raw author contribution occams razor

Almost one million words written by me, and another million by the blog's readers!
I shared four interesting stories on the blog, you can check them out here: Four Stories: A Decade of Writing Occam's Razor!
There is one valuable lessons that I did not share, I thought I would send it to you all as a special small present.
Most of you work at a job, at an Agency or a Company, here's a lesson for you from my decade in blogging...
Don't find all your self worth from your job at Amex, Wayfair, Cigna or wherever you work. Don't get too hung up on it. Don't let it have an extra-ordinary influence on how you feel at the end of the work day.
There is family of course to make you feel a sense of self that comes from outside of your job. But. I bet you are all mostly A-types. You are going to need a sense of pride/accomplishment/appreciation/value that comes only from work.
My recommendation is that you find something outside of job/work too.
Build your own posse.
Do something outside of work to create a cluster of people who will follow you/what you do with interest.
Perhaps just twenty people who are a part of a knitting group you started. A hundred people who can't wait to read your review of every indie movie. Five thousand people who want to know your opinion of the latest digital marketing shiny object. A quarter million new moms wanting to lean on your experience on dealing with postpartum. Ten people you teach storytelling to.
Start a mailing list. Start a website. Start a photo gallery. Start a YouTube channel. Start a mobile app. Start lecturing at a local university. Start a group chat with local non-profits. Start a collaboration with a handful of russians. Start.... just start.
When you start on this quest, here's the standard I share in my post above for my work outside work: Contribute something incredible, of value. And, your posse will follow.
Don't give your employer too much power over your sense of pride/accomplishment/appreciation/value from work. Do something else. The end result is that there will be 30/300/3000 people out there who love you who'll catch you should you decide to jump (employer x/this career/something else that might otherwise be risk). The end result is you'll actually be more honest at work (because you'll care a little less about the politics and BS at your professional work).
The other magnificent benefit of doing something outside of your work is that when you have tough days at your primary work, having someone from your posse tell you how much they value you for what you add to the world... there is no price you can put on that - and you own that outside work, it is that much sweeter.
Carpe diem.
Avinash.
PS: If you've read Occam's Razor, I ask three simple questions at the end of my celebration post. I would love your answers. Here: Four Stories: A Decade of Writing Occam's Razor!
