Introducing Worldcoin ………… 24 July 2023
Extract :
More than three years ago we founded Worldcoin with the ambition of creating a new identity and financial network owned by everyone; the rollout begins today.
If successful, we believe Worldcoin could drastically increase economic opportunity, scale a reliable solution for distinguishing humans from AI online while preserving privacy, enable global democratic processes, and eventually show a potential path to AI-funded UBI.
Worldcoin consists of a privacy-preserving digital identity (World ID) and, where laws allow, a digital currency (WLD) received simply for being human.
We hope that, where the rules are less clear, such as in the U.S., steps will be taken so more people can benefit from both.
You can now download World App, the first protocol-compatible wallet, and reserve your share.
After visiting an Orb, a biometric verification device, you will receive a World ID.
This lets you prove you are a real and unique person online while remaining completely private.
As the global distribution of Orbs is ramping up, you can find the closest one and book time to be verified with World App and at worldcoin.org.
Worldcoin is an attempt at global scale alignment, the journey will be challenging and the outcome is uncertain.
But finding new ways to broadly share the coming technological prosperity is a critical challenge of our time. We hope you’ll join us.

MY TAKE :
Ø How many NATIONAL databases of Indian Citizen ?............ 03 July 2021
Extract :
POSSIBLE SOLUTION :
Ø In India, we have 760 million Smart Phones and 400 million ( 40 crore ) Feature phones
Ø Most likely those feature phones are being used by Unorganized Workers
Ø Govt should replace these FREE, with ( 4G ) Smart phones upon surrender of feature phones
Ø At Rs 1,000 per phone ( if 40 crore were ordered ), that would cost the Govt, Rs 40,000 Cr
Ø These smart phones must be pre-installed with FACIAL RECOGNITION features and an app as described in my following blog / email :
I am One , I will become Many ………………………………..[ 06 Jan 2020 ]
Extract :
Following is my suggestion :
Ø Central Govt to launch a online portal called, www.SUIIC.gov.in ( Si
Unified Identity for Indian Citizen )
Ø By appropriately enacted Law, Central Govt will order all CARD ISSUING
AGENCIES to upload their “ Card Related Databases “ onto SUIIC web
server and continue to do so DAILY for new additions to their databases
Ø SUIIC will use AI - Machine Learning - Big Data Analytics etc., to merge /
collate all kinds of structured / unstructured databases pertaining to all
kinds of Cards / unique IDENTIFIERS, issued by any entity, to any citizen
These will include Mobile Service Providers and E Mail ID providers
Ø This exercise will lead to creation of UNIQUE PROFILE for each citizen, and
named :
YUP ( Your Unique Profile )
YUP ( with unique serial number ) will be that SINGLE CARD which
replaces all CARDS
Ø YUP will also be the name of a Mobile App supported by SUIIC web server
Ø Any citizen can download the YUP ( absolutely VOLUNTARY ) , open it on
his smart phone , enter his mobile number / E Mail ID and take a SELFIE of
his own FACE
Ø The Mobile App will automatically and instantly, upload the FACE IMAGE
onto SUIIC database and the matching YUP of that person
Ø SUIIC will embed into the FACE PHOTO , all data of all the CARDS ever
issued to that person ( using STEGANOGRAPHY ), and send it back to the
owner’s mobile phone
Ø Just under the FACE PHOTO, there will be a DROP LIST of all the Cards /
Identifiers which have been embedded
Touching any item, will reveal the actual Physical Card
Ø This will enable that citizen to EDIT his personal data online and click
SUBMIT
Ø Anytime required in future, that citizen can show that YUP photo to any
party
Ø There will be no compulsion for any citizen to use YUP . He may continue
using his Physical Cards, if he so desires
==============================
This is a very broad “ CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK “ – and certainly not comprehensive by any standard
Eg :
Going beyond merging / aggregating / unifying , all existing physical cards belonging to a person, what about :
Ø Enabling him to use YUP to create ( for the first time ), an altogether
different card ?
Ø Enabling a person to create new Voter Card, upon attaining the age of 18 ?
I urge Shri Ravi Shankar Prasadji to get this examined by some eminent technologists
I suggest that newly appointed TASK FORCE, headed by Shri Shibulalji, may consider my suggestion in the context of the following reports :

Sam Altman’s Worldcoin Wants to Scan Your Eyeballs in Exchange for Cryptocurrency
Worldcoin has designed an orb-shaped device that would scan a person’s iris to construct a unique personal identifier.
Extract :
Ø “I've been very interested in things like universal basic income and what's going to happen to global wealth redistribution and how we can do that better,” Altman said. “Is there a way we can use technology to do that at global scale?”
Ø The company aims to help economies transition to crypto-currencies “through a novel approach: a dedicated hardware device ensuring both humanness and uniqueness of everybody signing up, while maintaining their privacy and the overall transparency of a permission-less blockchain.”
Ø The device is a silver-colored spherical gizmo the size of a basketball that can be carried around and used to scan people's irises in order to ascertain their unique identities, Blania said
Ø According to Blania, iris-scanning is an essential part of the plan because it can prevent people from trying to register multiple times to defraud the system.
Ø He's also aware of the privacy implications of handing over biometric information to a tiny startup and said Worldcoin will make the process as transparent as possible so users can see how the data is used.
He said the iris scan will produce a unique numerical code for each person
and that the image is then deleted and never stored.

I could not resist consulting ChatGPT and BARD . I asked :
"
Please compare Sam Altman's " Worldcoin " with Parekh's YUP as described here > [ YUP = Your Unique Profile ] / https://myblogepage.blogspot. com/2023/07/worldcoin- conceptually-same-as-yup.html "
==============================
BARD replied :
Sure, here is a comparison of Sam Altman's Worldcoin and Parekh's YUP:
Feature | Worldcoin | YUP |
Consensus mechanism | Proof-of-stake | Proof-of-work |
Energy efficiency | More energy-efficient | Less energy-efficient |
Identity verification | Centralized | Decentralized |
Scalability | More scalable | Less scalable |
Ownership | Tools for Humanity | Parekh |
Consensus mechanism
Worldcoin uses a proof-of-stake consensus mechanism, while YUP uses a proof-of-work consensus mechanism. This means that Worldcoin is more energy-efficient than YUP. Proof-of-stake is a more environmentally friendly way to secure a blockchain network, as it does not require miners to compete with each other to solve complex mathematical puzzles.
Identity verification
Worldcoin uses a centralized approach to identity verification, while YUP uses a decentralized approach. This means that Worldcoin is more scalable than YUP. Centralized identity verification is more efficient, as it can be done by a single organization. However, it is also more vulnerable to censorship and data breaches. Decentralized identity verification is more secure, as it is not controlled by any single entity. However, it is also less scalable.
Ownership
Worldcoin is owned by Tools for Humanity, a non-profit organization founded by Sam Altman. YUP is owned by Parekh, the individual who created the project.
In summary, Worldcoin and YUP are both projects that aim to create a global, decentralized identity system. However, there are some key differences between the two projects, including their consensus mechanism, identity verification, scalability, and ownership.

Sam Altman's "Worldcoin" and Parekh's "YUP" are two distinct concepts aimed at addressing different challenges, but they do share some similarities in terms of their goals of creating unique digital identities.
1. Worldcoin: Worldcoin is a project founded by Sam Altman with the ambition of creating a new identity and financial network owned by everyone. The project comprises a privacy-preserving digital identity (World ID) and, where laws allow, a digital currency (WLD) received simply for being human. The key features of Worldcoin are as follows:
· Privacy-Preserving Digital Identity: World ID allows individuals to prove their real and unique identity online while maintaining complete privacy.
· Digital Currency for Humans: In regions where laws permit, individuals can receive a digital currency (WLD) simply for being human.
· Global Scale Alignment: Worldcoin aims to align people across the globe, enabling economic opportunity and facilitating global democratic processes.
· AI-Funded UBI Potential: The project envisions a potential path to AI-funded Universal Basic Income (UBI) in the future.
· Orb Device: Worldcoin has designed an orb-shaped device that scans a person's iris to create a unique personal identifier. The iris scan produces a unique numerical code, and the image is deleted and not stored to preserve privacy.
2. Parekh's YUP (Your Unique Profile): Parekh's YUP proposes a concept of creating a Single Unified Identity for Indian Citizens (SUIIC) through a mobile app named YUP (Your Unique Profile). The main features of YUP are as follows:
· Centralized Identity System: YUP aims to merge and collate all structured and unstructured databases from various card-issuing agencies to create a unique profile for each citizen.
· Facial Recognition: Citizens can download the YUP app, enter their mobile number and take a selfie, which will be uploaded to the SUIIC database, creating a unique face profile.
· Card Replacement: YUP intends to serve as a single card that replaces all other physical cards issued to a person.
· Data Editing and Sharing: Citizens can edit their personal data online and choose to show their YUP profile to parties when required.
Comparison: While both Worldcoin and YUP aim to create unique digital identities, there are some key differences:
1. Scope: Worldcoin is a global initiative, whereas YUP is specifically targeted at Indian citizens.
2. Technology: Worldcoin utilizes an iris-scanning device (Orb) to create unique identifiers, while YUP relies on facial recognition technology.
3. Digital Currency: Worldcoin offers a digital currency (WLD) for eligible individuals, whereas YUP primarily focuses on creating a unified identity system.
4. Purpose: Worldcoin's primary goals are economic opportunity, distinguishing humans from AI, global democratic processes, and a potential path to AI-funded UBI. YUP's focus is on creating a single identity profile to replace physical cards.
5. Privacy: Both projects emphasize privacy, with Worldcoin deleting iris scan images and YUP using facial recognition to create a unique face profile.
It's important to note that both projects are ambitious in their goals and may face challenges in implementation, but they represent different approaches to addressing the evolving landscape of digital identities and economic opportunities.
