मैं अपनी सुबह की सैर पास के एक बगीचे में करता हूं
तीन साल पहले, इसके पेड़ कबूतरों, गौरैया, मैना आदि के साथ जीवित थे - जिन पक्षियों ने लाखों वर्षों तक नीले आकाश को भरा था
आज, कुछ कौवे और एक कभी-कभी यहाँ वहाँ दौड़ती गिलहरी को छोड़कर, ये सभी गायब हो गए हैं
हो सकता है, ये कौवे और गिलहरियां भी अगले कुछ सालों में विलुप्त हो जाएं
मुझे एहसास है कि मेरी कविताएँ भी (जो, आखिरकार, मानव निर्मित हैं) कुछ वर्षों में समय के कूड़ेदान में गायब हो जाएंगी
लेकिन, उस संक्षिप्त अवधि के दौरान, मुझे उम्मीद है कि कम से कम कुछ पाठक इनका आनंद लें
एक मित्र ने सुझाव दिया कि मैं एक आत्मकथा लिखुँ - मेरे जीवन के बारे में कुछ तथ्य - मेरे जीवन में घटी कुछ घटनाए
अपने जीवन में मैंने जो किया है, उसके बारे में जानने की जहमत भला कौन उठाएगा ?
ये सब बातें तो
में दिखाई देती है।
जहां तक इन कविताओं का संबंध है , ये "काल्पनिक" हैं - जो किसी कवि के जीवनकाल के दौरान "हकीकत " के रूप में हो भी सकती हैं ।

હું મારી સવારની સહેલ કરવા નજીકના બગીચામાં જાઉં છું
ત્રણ વર્ષ પહેલાં, તેના ઝાડ કબૂતર, કાબરો , અને ચકલીઓ સાથે જીવંત હતા - પક્ષીઓ, જેમણે લાખો વર્ષોથી વાદળી આકાશ ભરી દીધું હતું
આજે, કેટલાક કાગડાઓ અને ક્યારેક અહીં તહીં દોડતી ખિસકોલી સિવાય, તે બધા અદૃશ્ય થઈ ગયા છે
શક્ય છે કે , આ કાગડાઓ અને ખિસકોલીઓ પણ આવતા કેટલાક વર્ષોમાં લુપ્ત થઈ જાય
મારા માનવા મુજબ , મારી કવિતાઓ પણ ( જે છેવટે, માનવસર્જિત છે ), થોડા વર્ષોમાં કાળ ની ગહન ગર્તા માં ગાયબ થઈ જશે
પરંતુ, તે ટૂંકા ગાળા દરમિયાન, હું આશા રાખું છું કે કેટલાક વાચકો આનો આનંદ લેશે
એક મિત્રે સૂચવ્યું કે હું આત્મકથા લખું - મારા જીવન વિશે કેટલીક હકીકતો
મારા જીવનમાં મેં જે કર્યું તે વિશે જાણવાની ઈચ્છા કોઈ કરે , એમ માનવું એ તો મૂર્ખાઈ જ કહેવાય !
પણ કોઈ વિરલા ને આવિ ઇંતેજારી હોય તો , મારી જીવન કરણી
માં પ્રતિબિંબિત થાય છે
જ્યાં સુધી મારી કવિતાઓનો સવાલ છે, તે કોઈ કવિ તેના જીવનકાળ દરમિયાન “હકીકત ” તરીકે ઇચ્છે છે તે શક્ય છે પરંતુ કવિ ની કલ્પના તેના જીવન નું પ્રતિબિંબ પણ હોય શકે !

Jayesh,
Vishesh suggested that I write an “ Introduction ( Foreword ? ) “ which appears before the INDEX page
What do you think of the following few words ?
I take my morning walk in a nearby garden
Three years ago, its trees were alive with pigeons , sparrows , mynas etc – birds which had filled the blue sky for millions of years
Today , except for some crows and an occasionally darting squirrel, these have all but disappeared
May be, these crows and squirrels too might become extinct in the next few years
I realize that my poems too ( which ,after all, are man-made ), will disappear into the dustbin of Time within a few years
But, during that brief period, I hope at least some readers enjoy these
A friend suggested that I write an autobiography – some facts about my life
I could not think of anyone who would have bothered to learn about what I did in my life – which, more or less , is reflected in www.hemenparekh.in
As far as the poems that follow are concerned, these are “ fictional “ accounts of what any poet could have desired as “ facts “ during his life time
