Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

FW: WAITING TO WELCOME YOU TO INDIA

 Dear Anthony / David  ,

Just came across following news report in today’s Economic Times :

Change in renewable energy mix gives rooftop solar projects steam

Extract :

Rooftop solar projects are set to get a fillip with the introduction of “ distributed renewable energy “ segment in the latest renewable purchase obligations (

RPO ) . This means that power distribution companies will have to MANDATORILY purchase renewable energy from ROOFTOP SOLAR PROJECTS , among

others included in the segment

Renewable Energy projects with a capacity of LESS THAN 10 MW, installed by consumers , UNDER ANY ARRANGEMENT, will qualify for RENEWABLE

PURCHASE OBLIGATION from the DISTRIBUTED RENEWABLE ENERGY SEGMENT

As pointed out in my various blogs / emails , there are some 30 million concrete buildings in India . In the context of this potential market for your printed

Solar film , the following data ( furnished by BARD ), makes for useful perspective :

According to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), as of March 31, 2023, 1.02 million buildings in India have installed Rooftop Solar (RTS) panels. This

represents a total installed capacity of 6.17 GW.

The RTS market in India has grown rapidly in recent years, driven by government subsidies, declining solar panel costs, and increasing awareness of the benefits of solar

energy. In FY 2022-23, India added 456 MW of RTS capacity, up from 319 MW in FY 2021-22.

The majority of RTS installations in India are residential, followed by commercial and industrial installations. The top states for RTS installations are Gujarat, Maharashtra,

Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Rajasthan.

The MNRE has set a target to achieve 40 GW of RTS capacity by 2022. The government is also working to promote RTS installations through various schemes and initiatives,

such as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme and the Rooftop Solar Programme (RTSP).

With the government's support and the declining cost of solar panels, the RTS market in India is expected to continue to grow rapidly in the coming years.

With regards,

hemen
