Dear Mr Srinivasan

This is further to my email this evening

Attached screen shots will tell you how My Jobs widget will work

It is possible that amongst a group of friends, only one owns a smart phone / tablet

But our widget will enable ALL of them to view their own job alerts ( perfectly matched with their respective resumes ) and further enable them to APPLY against any / all job alerts. This has been made possible by each one entering his own mobile no and password in the widget

This arrangement literally converts every smart phone / tablet into a “ Internet Kiosk “ – though for a limited purpose

Regards

hemen  parekh

PS :

You may notice that on www.CustomizeResume.com , we have a feature called  “ Blast Your Resume “

This free feature enables a jobseeker to blast his resume to some 56,000 employers / agencies

We plan to enable jobseekers to do this Resume Blasting directly from his smart phone / tablet thru another widget called “ Resume Blast “

This presents another “ Internet Marketing “ opportunity, targeted to Corporates !

Re: Rating / Ranking of My Jobs Widget by users

Dear Mr Hemanji, Shuklendu,

Really a  great idea to support rating in the 'My Jobs' mobile widget.

In order to support 'Rating' on 'My jobs' mobile widget, customize resume website should provide information pertaining to rating and a place holder for updating the rating provided by the user.

Suggestion is to have a description for each of the 1,2,3,4 ratings, which the help the user to submit an appropriate feedback after he/she user the 'My Jobs' mobile widget.

This 'Rating' can get triggered after the user touches the 'Finish'/End button (After APPLY).

Any other thoughts/views, pl let us know.

Let us know once the implementation of  feedback/rating  is completed on your web site.

Kindly, let me know if you need any further clarifications.

Thanks & Regards

In market.android website, I noticed a feature whereby a user of any particular widget can " rate " that widget on a 1 - 5 Star . Online software converts these ratings into horizontal frequency distribution bar charts

This serves two purposes, viz:

#  provides user feedback to the developers for future versions

#  motivates incoming visitors to download

But, for rating, a visitor would need to return to android web store after trying out widget

In future version of My Jobs widget, we could consider whether we could provide a similar " rating " mechanism in the widget itself, where a user can " rate " by simply touching appropriate rating button, 1 / 2/3/4/5

Then transfer these ratings onto our website as frequency distribution bar chart on " My Jobs " page

Of course , this will differ from the one on the Android store but that does not matter

Re: Android Widget

Dear Mr Suklendu, Mr Hemanji,

Really nice to know Hemanji's thoughts on bundling the Widget with Akash.

Requesting the following two changes please

1. Login : http://customizeresume.com/Jam/WidgetAlert.aspx

As suggested, kindly provide input fields for capturing Login and Password in the above URL, probably below the mobile number field.

2. Job Alerts : http://customizeresume.com/Jam/WidgetAlert.aspx

Suggestion : Please  provide two divisions(tables).
   1. For  'CURRENT  JOB-ALERTS   ALREADY   APPLIED   SO   FAR'
   2. For 'CURRENT  JOB-ALERTS   NOT   APPLIED   SO   FAR' .

Please let us know once the above suggestions are implemented.

We will require 3/4 working days for implementing the above changes.

Please let me know if you need any clarifications.

Thanks & Regards

Hello Revathi,

We had a meeting today with Hemenji about the functioning of the Android widget. We thought through various usage scenarios and how the widget should behave in these situations.

Based on this discussion, we have created the attached document. Please go through the document with your team and revert with your thoughts.

About ‘Aakash’, Hemenji is keen that we enable the widget on Aakash. With its price and government’s backing, Aakash has a potential to garner a large user base. If we can move in early with Aakash, we will have very good advantage. Hemenji has placed an order for Aakash and is also intiating a process of talking to the manufacturer to make our widget a bundled offering with Aakash.

Let us know your thoughts on this.

No doubt you must have read about the launch of Akash Tablet selling for Rs.
2200

It is , I believe , a touch-screen device running on Android 2.2, with Wi-Fi
connectivity and internet browser

Can users download / install My Jobs widget on this device and receive /
apply against job alerts ?

If yes , then this is very good news which can acclerate adoption of our
widget

If your answer is YES then I will try to get hold of one from somewhere !

Saved by the skin of my teeth

Shuklendu  /  Nitin  /  Hardik

I must be getting old [ no secret this ! ]

I , nearly failed to see the obvious disaster !

What would have happened if we had started blasting promo emails ? – of course, after widgets got modified ?,

Ø  Hopefully, lakhs would have visited our website / downloaded and installed widgets / used widgets to “ apply “ against thousands of job alerts

And our server would have delivered their ( so-called ) “ resumes “ to recruiters

Resumes consisting of 6 fields in 2 blocks !

Result ?

Not a single of those candidates would have even received an “ interview call “ – let alone a job offer !

And those recruiters would have thought this as some kind of a “ joke “ – a clear indication that the candidate is obviously NOT interested in the job !

Thereafter, employers would start deleting every single “ resume “ arriving from RecruitGuru – even without opening

Even “ blacklist “ RecruitGuru !

And, as far as candidates are concerned, they would have lost all “ faith “ in RecruitGuru’s ability to get them interview calls !

Or, worse, think of CustomizeResume as the biggest “ Online Fraud “ ! – possibly started by Mobile Service Providers to earn some extra revenue on the sly !

That would have compelled them to start a “ Negative / Abusive Buzz “ !

In light of the foregoing, I have decided to postpone promo email blast till

Ø  Modified widgets are ready and thoroughly tested

Ø Hardik modifies script which will enable Kailas to re-upload those 47 lakh records with all those 25 fields

Ø Kailas re-uploads those records

Ø Hardik tests that the NEW “ Review Resume “ shows up in 5 blocks with all 25 fields

Ø Hardik also writes that script to find out ( from the back-end ), how many candidates have “ Zero “ job alerts / how many have “ One “ job alert / how many have “ Two “ job alerts etc [ frequency distribution of no of candidates vs no of job alerts ]. This will tell us whether everyone gets some minimum no of job alerts AND whether a great majority gets 10 / 15 job alerts ( Normal Distribution )

So , starting tomorrow, Hardik’s top priority will be to modify re-uploading script and , if possible, make it available to Kailas on Wednesday so that re-uploading can start in full blast

If , I am overlooking some more “ obvious “ things, please do bring to my notice

But, if

it speeds up development and makes app robust

Then

I have no objection in introducing “ Password “  in  MY  JOBS  widget as well.

Safeguarding Ourselves

Shuklendu  /  Revathi

This has ref to my mail yesterday re mischievous use of widgets

In light of such a possibility, I suggest , on the very first screen of both widgets ( where SiteOnMobile logo appears ), following notice appears :

Notice :

Neither SiteOnMobile.com, nor CustomizeResume.com, take any responsibility for use of this widget. You use this at your own risk. Never share your password with anyone nor lend your mobile to others .

Here I have assumed that , to prevent the type of misuse that I described in my email yesterday, we would need to add, below the mobile no. , another field for “Your CustomizeResume Password “,  in “ Jobs for All “ widget

If you agree that this is the best way, please incorporate the same

With regards

Annex B

ANNEX   B

Draft of Press Note – to be released by RecruitGuru

                               Mobile  Internet  Kiosk

Hemen Parekh – Director, RecruitGuru, announced the launch of the smart phone widget,

                                    “ Jobs  for  All “

Explaining “ Jobs for All “ , he said :

Ø   This is a free app for Android based smart phones

Ø  It is developed by www.SiteOnMobile.com , for use by jobseekers registered on www.CustomizeResume.com

Ø  Anyone can freely download / install this widget by entering in smart phone browser ………………………

Ø  To see his job alerts, all that a jobseeker need to do is to enter his mobile number in the “ Jobs for All “ widget

Ø  He can apply against any of these job alerts, simply by touching the APPLY button
Ø
Ø  “ Jobs for All “ eliminates the need for a PC / broadband connection. In fact, it “ obsoletes “ job searches on job portals !

Ø  Since hundreds of jobseekers can “ Apply “ against their respective job alerts from a single device, “ Jobs for All “ widget converts a smart phone into a

                                          Mobile  Internet  Kiosk

Ø  There are millions of jobseekers in remote corners of India, where there is no internet penetration. Such a mobile kiosk will provide to such jobseekers, a level-playing field in the job market and bridge the “ Digital Divide “ with their city cousins

Ø  Before long, HP Labs – India expect to release similar widget based on Apple O/S

Ø  It is expected that Indian smart phone manufacturers will pre-install this widget on their products before shipping to dealers, giving them competitive advantage to gain market share

Displaying WidgetAlert page on Mobile

Revathi

Yesterday evening, I saw Shuklendu’s mail re Jobs Applied History

I discussed this with him over phone at length and came to following conclusions :

Ø   Even though, our server keeps track / record of all the jobs ever applied by a candidate ( whether On Line / or thru JAM ), there is no point – neither a way – to show all of these past “ Applies “ to any candidate. I believe, we have a provision to show these ALL to him on our web site. Shuklendu to check-up on this and confirm

Ø  We need to show to a Widget User, only the no of jobs from his “ CURRENT JOB ALERTS ‘ that he has already applied – so that he does not duplicate.

Ø  All jobs have a “ shelf life “ of 30 days, after which, they “ expire “ and get removed from the “ Current Jobs Database “. This means, they also get removed from the “ Current Job Alert Summary “ page AND from the “ WidgetAlert.aspx “ page

Ø  But of course, if a job gets posted today, and found “ matching “ for a particular candidate, then it will keep appearing in that candidate’s “ WidgetAlert.aspx “ page till 04 Nov 2011

Ø  Now , when a candidate initiates Widget on 10th Oct, it is possible that , from his CURRENT job alerts, he has already applied against 5 ( out of 23 ) jobs. But we cannot expect him to remember which ones !

Ø  Therefore, the Job Alerts Screen should bring out this factual position UP-FRONT !

Ø  I suggest, the display should be as follows :

Ø  If he gets to see such a page, he will only study those jobs that he has NOT applied for so far, avoiding duplication

Ø  Of course, this page will be “ copied “ by Widget from “WidgetAlert.aspx “ page.

I would request you to kindly consider this logic and, if you approve, then incorporate.

Thru such an arrangement, a user’s experience would dramatically improve and a VIRAL BUZZ will start !
