TIME TO FACE UP TO FACEBOOK

Just read your thought-provoking article :

-     Where you write :

 

A better approach is to reduce the supply of bad content ex ante, using a price mechanism. 

 

Facebook should adopt a revised business model requiring users to pay a small fee each time they publish or share a post, while comments are still free.

 

The rate could be as low as a few paise / rupees.

 

 

Without doubt, your suggestion will drastically bring down fake news etc

 

But it may also reduce the number of users – something which Facebook may not want

 

In my yesterday’s blog ( link below ) , I have suggested a different approach which will not reduce the incidence of fake news etc but will make  Facebook pay the users for their personal / private data !

 

Facebook is unlikely to “ willingly “ agree with my suggestion either  

 

But if it won’t , then maybe we can learn to live without Facebook  !
