VHI / Dr Gondalekar :
Sorry I could not come back on this earlier , with so much to say !
But following news might be relevant to this project
UGC plans scheme on trans-disciplinary research [ 11 Feb 2019 ]
Extract :
Trans-disciplinary research is a team effort by investigators from different disciplines to create new conceptual and theoretical innovations that go beyond the confines of a subject-specific approach, a UGC official said, not wishing to be named.
“Stride will support trans-disciplinary research and socially inclusive innovations for national development and entrepreneurship.
New ideas, concepts and practices for public good and strengthening civil society will be encouraged,” the official said.
Then, this morning I came across the following :
Students offer smart solutions to run business
Extract :
The solutions were submitted at the recently held Smart India Hackathon at Prin LN Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research (WIMDR), Matunga
Teams from WIMDR and Don Bosco Institute of Technology (DBIT), Kurla, worked towards digitising supply chain management system. They suggested using barcodes and QR codes on products to track them by manufacturers, retailers and suppliers.
Another team from WIMDR proposed enhancement of customer experience at large retail shops. It suggested 3D hologram promotion of various products at the stores. The team also proposed installing a touch screen to provide information about various products.
( As for this last item – 3D holograms in Retail Stores – this was suggested by me in :
MA = DA x 4,000,000 ? [ 17 July 2018 ] , as follows :
“ Eventually replacing " Physical " merchandize with " Holographic Display " of merchandize on your store shelves !”
I think , my proposal [ Transport : an Integrated Logistic Plan ? ] would be an ideal candidate for a project to be qualified under UGC “ Stride “ program

Dear HCP,
I am forwarding your request to our Dr.G(Prof.Dr.Shrinivas Gondalekar) former IITB/NITIE/IITB) who can only take action on your request for student involvement in the area of Operations.I had also spokent to him.I would suggest you send him the link to the relevant background material directly.
==vhi==with regards
cc.Dr.G,
As i have mentioned to you Mr.H C Parekh, held very senior positions in L&T in the area of Manufacturing,Perspective Planning, and General Management.Having worked under him for many years,I can say he is a thought leader and constantly innovating. In early 1960s he had spoken to all of us about IT revolution and digitisation. So much for his vision. He is contributing regularly to the think tank of Central Govt. even now though he is in his mid 80s.

Subject: A STUDENT PROJECT
Dear VHI,
Some time back , you wrote that you have requested your Director – Operations , to examine the possibility of your MBA / Engg / Comp Science students to undertake a project to develop a Technology Platform to find a holistic solution to the traffic , based on my blog :
Transport : an Integrated Logistic Plan ?
There was a time when “ Case Studies “ of large companies , were part of teaching method of all management colleges
May be , this is still so
But have you ever heard of a “ Case Study “ of a Management Institution being part of curriculum of all other management institutions , world wide ?
Because , that “ Case Study “ illustrated how those students went about solving a “ Real Life Problem “ faced by the entire World ?
And , in the process of finding that “ Universally Applicable Solution “ , how these students successfully managed to get on board , the following stake-holders :
· Vehicle Owners
· Vehicle Manufacturers and their Professional / Trade Bodies ( eg : SIAM / SMEV etc )
· Regional Transport Authorities
· State Transport Ministries
· Central Transport Ministry
· Manufacturers of RFID and other sensors
· Public Transport Operators
· Fleet Operators
· Taxi Operators ( Uber – Ola etc )
· Air Traffic Control Authority
· Drone Operation Authority
· Maritime Operations Authority
· Police Authorities
· ISRO
· NITI Aayog
· Numerous Indian Start Ups working on “ Vehicle Tracking Systems “
· Mobile phone manufacturers who will switch over to NaviC based GPS
I am sure , this is not an exhaustive list
Here is an opportunity for your Institute to set a precedent for academics contributing to solving real / urgent issues
Regards,
hcp
