I write with reference to following news :

PIL in Supreme Court Seeks Increase in COVID-19 Tests, More Quarantine Centres as Outbreak Spreads

The PIL was filed by journalist Prashant Tandon and social activist Kunjana Singh through advocates Ashima Mandla and Fuzail Ahmad Ayyubi.

 

The plea has also sought an increase in the number of quarantine and isolation centres, setting up of temporary hospital beds, and facilitating thermal screening at public places in view of the coronavirus spread.

 

 

In this connection, I wish to draw your attention to the misgivings expressed by Dr Ramanan Laxminarayan, director of the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics and Policy (CDDEP)*., in following news report :

 

Coronavirus: How many cases will India see? Here's one expert's best-case prediction

Applying mathematical models used in the US or UK to India points to a possible 300 million (30 crore) cases, according to Ramanan Laxminarayan, director of the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics and Policy (CDDEP)*.

 

Is there a best-case scenario? "200 million," Laxminarayan said in an interview with India Today TV's Rahul Kanwal

 

Laxminarayan pointed out that most of the 300 million infections would be mild.. But ten million will be severe

 

HOW MANY DEATHS ARE WE LOOKING AT?

 

It depends.

 

If India's health system is unprepared, we could be looking at 2 to 2.5 million, Ramanan Laxminarayan said.

 

"If we're prepared, it will come under a million deaths." -- all senior citizens aged over 60, he added.

 

 

Dear Hon Justices,

 

I request your Honor to make me a party to this PIL , since I am most likely to fall a victim to Covid-19 , being of 86 years of age and my wife is 82

 

I urge you to issue a notice to the Central Government, requesting its reply / stand on my following suggestion as far as setting up of facilities for “ Thermal Screening at Public Places “is concerned ( I have sent this as email to all Cabinet Ministers and will mark a copy to you ) :
