Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

CONGRATULATIONS : V K Saraswat / NITI Aayog

Thank God , " Model Code of Conduct " does not apply to me

For a moment I was worried that Randeep Surjewala ( Congress ) and Mamta Banerjee ( TMC ) might lodge a complaint against me to the Election Commission , for , not only congratulating certain respected Research Institutions and Scientists for this revolutionary EV battery technology ,

but –

-    also daring to send this blog as email to members of Lok Sabha / Rajya Sabha / Policy Makers / Newspaper Editors / TV Anchors / Economists / Think Tanks / Journalists / Business Leasers / Assocham / FICCI / CII etc !

-    Of course , they would not mind if I had found some excuse to curse our Prime Minister using worst language at my command !

Congratulations , Shri V K Saraswat ( NITI Aayog )

What for ?
For taking initiative in forming a joint venture between CECRI and High Energy Batteries

How will this help ?
CECRI has developed several revolutionary technologies for EV batteries but it is unable to exploit these technologies, being a non-profit , government owned lab

Currently , there are no manufacturers in India for Lithium-ion Battery , which is the heart of our EV program. We totally depend upon imported batteries

With nearly 41 % import duty / surcharge , these batteries make up almost 40 % of an EV sale price

Whereas imported batteries are mostly Lithium based , batteries proposed to be developed in JV will use a combination of Lithium, Nickle, Manganese and Cobalt ( raw materials available locally )

Any unique feature of this JV ?

Yes

#    The JV will be a NON-PROFIT company

#    Following government institutions will lend their respective expertise to the JV :

·      Indian Institute of Chemical Technology – Hyderabad
·      Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute – Kolkata
·      National Physical Laboratory – Delhi
·      Indian Telephone Industry Ltd – Bangaluru

How will technology developed by CECRI  get transferred to Private Sector ?

Following companies have signed up MOUs with CECRI for technology transfer :

#    Tunga Services
#    ITI Ltd
#    Raasi Green Earth

Have you congratulated CECRI for their pioneering work in Battery technology ?

Yes

I have emailed to them , my following blogs :
