Dear Christine,
Thanks for your response
Sion ( Electric Cars ) are more of a solution to India than for
Germany !
( Ref :
[ Energy Efficiency Services (EESL)- India, along
with World Bank and World Resources Institute (WRI), has sought variants of
electric cars that can run 200 km or more on a single charge and is priced not more than Rs 10 lakh. ( 12,346 Euro ) ]
Here is why :
·
India has over 200 million vehicle population ( all petrol /
diesel ) which is growing by 12-14 million per year
·
By 2030 , India wants 30 % of its new vehicles production to be
Electric . As per a McKinsey Report , that may mean 18 million E Vehicles
!
·
India has currently some 57,000 Petrol / Diesel pumping stations
, with an investment of Rs 6.5 lakh*crore
( Euro 926
Billion ? )
·
A Govt-owned Petrol Marketing company is planning to add another
25,000 pumps !
·
As of today , there are no manufacturers of Lithium-ion
Batteries in India although several are planning
·
Most regions in India get 300 days of sunshine per year
·
Biggest hurdle to E Car adoption in India is lack of Battery
Charging Infrastructure
·
Indian Space agency , ISRO has come up with two interesting
developments, viz :
# A small / high
efficiency Li-ion Battery ( and offered technology to Indian firms )
# A solar panel
roof top capable of continuously charging onboard battery
·
Should SONO decide to set up a manufacturing base in India on
the premise that “ SONO does not need road-side Battery Charging Infrastructure
“ – then such a proposal will receive a very warm welcome from our Central
Transport Minister , Mr Nitin Gadkari [ email@nitingadkari.org / nitin.gadkari@nic.in
/ http://www.nitingadkari.org/ ]

Thank you very much for your email and your interest in our Sion.
The first Sions will be delivered to Germany at the end of next year. Unfortunately we are not yet planning any test drive tours to India.
Don't hesitate to get back to me with any further questions!
With kind regards from Munich,
Christine

Dear
Isabel,
Thank
you for sending this update on Sono Motors
For
over 2 years , I have been advocating to India’s policy makers ( includes all
Central Cabinet Ministers ) that an Electric Car which gets its charge from
roof top mounted Solar Panels , is the ONLY answer to any number of problems
that we face
Among
the dozens of emails that I have sent to them , is the following :
25,000 New Petrol Pumps ?
Why ?
Questions
:
· How
soon do you think Sono cars will become commercially available to the public ?
· Any
possibility of Sono conducting a TEST DRIVE in India ? If yes , how soon ?
With
regards,
Hemen
