Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

This is worth studying.

In www.RecruitGuru.com , our Resume Parsing software ( GuruMine ), did have a functionality to extract entire “ blocks “ from any resume , depending upon their “ headings / titles “.

In fact, “values” of those 23 “ fields “ were searched only in that block , which was most likely to contain that value. Eg:” BA / B Com / B Sc” etc  were most likely to be found in the block ( paragraph ), titled “ Education / Qualification “ etc.

Cvmaker.in enables a jobseeker to create such “ blocks / paragraphs “ by letting him, first select the “ Title “ . Once he has created a “ block “, he can then write appropriate description within that block.

Many years back I wrote a note on such a concept- except my “ context “ was not the jobseekers but the Recruiters.

It is just too much to expect that millions of jobseekers will

Ø  construct their resumes having several “ blocks “ , all titled identically

Ø  then they will arrange these blocks in an identical “ order / sequence “

Truth is

Ø  All resumes do contain between 5 to 10 distinct blocks

Ø  These blocks do carry titles / headings which are same or similar ( synonyms )

Ø  The blocks are arranged in thousands of permutations / combinations

This makes a recruiter’s life miserable !

Depending upon the “ vacancy / position “ to be filled, a recruiter is primarily interested in looking-up just 1 or 2 blocks out of the entire resume at the very beginning, to decide whether that particular resume is worth reading in full or not.

Eg:

For a position of “ Head of R&D “ in a Process Plant, the very first thing that a recruiter wants to know is : Does this candidate have a Ph. D. in Chemistry ? ( clearly mentioned in Advt ).If not, forget !

As a result, a recruiter must search-out the “ Education / Qualification / Academics “ block from within all resumes received and read those blocks FIRST.

But these blocks are randomly “ scattered “ all over those hundreds of resumes ! A lot of time gets wasted in locating / searching for those blocks.

Now imagine that we develop a software which

Ø  Separates the blocks , title-wise ( what RecruitGuru.com already does )

Ø  Enables the recruiters to “Customize “ all resumes where “ Education “ block appears right at the TOP ! or any block of his choice.

Ø  Enable the recruiters to make all blocks to “ re-arrange “ in a pre-determined sequence

Ø  Does all these with a single click for for all of those incoming resumes

Such a software would save the recruiters a lot of time in screening-out useless resumes.

Such a software would enable recruiters / organization to “ focus “ on that particular aspect of each resume which is most critical for their respective companies.

We must incorporate this “ Re-arranging of Blocks of Resumes “ functionality in the downloadable Resume Parser tool- when we start working on it
