Tomorrow's   Headlines   Today   ?

Take a look at the following news headlines :

#  64 million jobs created in China
    (  Business Line / 29 Dec 2015 )

#  Employers may get some sops for creating extra jobs
    (  Economic Times / 05 Feb 2016 )

#  23 % Indians aged 20-24 seeking jobs
    (  Times of India / 23 Dec 2015 )

#   27mill SSC-pass non-grads seek employment
    (  Times of India / 23 Dec 2015 )

#   Jobs grew 4.4 % / wages 14 % in 2013-14
    (  Business Line / 11 Feb 2016 )

#   Labour Ministry to restructure job survey , include service
     sector data ( Mint / 10 Feb 2016 )

#   India's Job Crisis : Here's a plan for creating 50 million quality
jobs in the next decade : Romesh Wadhwani
     ( Times of India / 09 Feb 2016 )

#   With focus on Mfg, Labour Min Pitches for Jobs Survey Recast
    (  Economic Times / 21 April 2016 )

#   The Jobs Discourse : Ajit Ranade
    (  Mint / 20 April 2016 )

#   Job growth down to 7 year low in 2015 : Labour Bureau
   (  Business Line / 16 April 2016 )

#   No country for freshers
   (  Economic Times / 28 March 2016 )

Now , can you predict what will be the newspaper headlines , when it comes to the matter of " JOBS " , 2 / 3 / 5 years from now ?

There are two methods , as follows :

*   Reproduce the above headlines by simply changing the year
( in the " date " ) to 2018 / 2019 / 2021

You will not be too far off !

*    But if you are a " Data Scientist " , you may want to borrow from me a database of 2+  million job advertisements compiled from leading job portals over the past 8 years ( and covering job advertisements released by 50,000 + employers ) , and subject this data-set to BIG DATA analytics , to predict :

#   WHO   ( which company ) , will advertise

#   WHAT ( vacancy name ) , and

#   WHEN  ( almost , to a day ), for posting in

#   WHICH ( city ) , and needing

#   WHAT  ( Skills / Edu Qualifications ) , offering

#   HOW MUCH ( salary )

You will be doing a great service to not only the Jobseekers but also to Policy Makers / Educationists / Economists / NITI Aayog / HR managers / Trade Associations / Industrialists etc

If , based on search-terms used by billions of surfers every day ,  Google can accurately predict an outbreak of flue in any part of the world , then , surely Indian software geeks can predict jobs !

I am surprised why Naukri / MonsterIndia / TimesJobs etc are not publishing such job related analytics on their web sites in a dynamically changing fashion , given their enormous databases

They , have even captured , BILLIONS of search queries by :

*  Jobseekers searching jobs , and

*  Employers searching resumes

These portals are , literally , in possession of ( what John Battelle - author of book " Google " may have said ) , " Database of Intentions "  !

Dear Mr. Parekh,

Appreciate your mail and the detailed note on the portal.

As a federation, while we are not into aggregation of jobs or resumes at this juncture, however, we would be keen to think with you for a partnership for the event, where you may be keen to launch the same on your own. Our country needs proactive products of this nature, and the world employment conference will be the best venue, as participants will be from all over the world.
We do have partnership modules which could be of your interest.

Do share with me your thoughts on the same. We can take the discussion forward accordingly.

Subject: RE: 49th Ciett World Employment Conference

Dear Suchita,

Thanks for your prompt response

I reproduce below , my first email, which explains my rationale behind proposing , what you might call , a

Mother of All Job Portals "

Today , there are , may be , 50,000 job portals all over the World and , may be , 500 + in India ( not counting the web sites of Headhunters / Recruitment Agencies / Staffing Companies )

Each carries databases of  jobseekers and  resumes

Altogether , possibly these add up to 10 million jobs ( vacancy-posting ) and 500 million resumes

But , what jobs a jobseeker can access / apply to and what resumes , an Employer can search/download / call for interview , is restricted to the database carried by any given job portal only

And no one ( whether an Employer or a Jobseeker ) ,  can possibly register on 50,000 job-portals !

Imagine a situation where Google would serve you search-results , pertaining to one specific geographical region, instead of its declared goal of :

Organizing all the information of the entire World "

What I have suggested is :

A Google of all the Jobs and all the Resumes of the World ( - a very narrow domain-specific info of the World )

Imagine that your mobile service provider is Airtel and it enables you to phone only those who are also subscribers of Airtel ONLY !

Meaning , you can " Connect up " with only those who are in Airtel's database

Today , we know that you can dial-up and talk to , may be 3 billion mobile-phone owners , who are being served by , may be 2,000 + Mobile Service Providers , around the World

While dialing , you have no need to know , which MSP is serving that phone

The phenomenal growth of mobiles came about , only because of this " Cross-MSP , seamless connectivity "

The principle of " Network Externality " kicked in ( the more useful a service network becomes , the more the number of persons using it )

Launch of www.GlobalRecruiter.net ( or , if you like....www.World-Wide-Jobs.com ) , where thousands of job-portals around the World " interconnect ", would ensure that :

Jobs  for  All  =  Peace  on  Earth

Of course , there will be resistance / opposition from those with vested interests

Of course , there will be a hundred naysayers , who will say :

"  Rubbish !  Ridiculous ! Preposterous ! Impractical ! "

All paradigm-changing ideas are not only " ahead of their times " , they are bound to be ridiculed at first

If ISF , believes in my concept and willing to deploy the necessary resources , I am willing to make available ( without any obligation ) , source-code of,

www.GlobalRecruiter.net ( which I launched a few years back and then de-hosted )

If desired , I am also willing to guide this project , so that you may launch it before May 2016

with regards,

Search Engines
_____________

Search Engines have a crucial / vital contribution to make to W3F.

Over the years, they have amassed vast data / history / usage-frequency re: “Search Terms” used by

Ø  Jobseekers while searching for jobsites

Ø  Recruiters while searching for resumes

Such “Search Terms” usually list job-portals links in search results.

However, such “links” may or may not turn-up on the FIRST PAGE of results.

Anytime, any such “Search Terms”  is typed,  Search Engines can make a huge difference by showing-up on the very FIRST PAGE,

Ø  www.world-wide-jobs.com,   and it’s

Ø  Partner Websites

Social Networking Sites
____________________

It is being claimed that Social Networking Sites such as Facebook / MySpace / Orkut / Linkedin / You Tube etc. host / carry more job-advts and resumes than the biggest commercial job-portals.

That makes them “bigger-than-the-biggest” job portals” !

And most of these are FREE as well.

And most are visited by millions of jobseekers and recruiters daily.

And nearly all of these visitors have their own / smaller “networks” of friends on these sites.

By partnering with

these Social Networking Sites can become the ideal vehicle / media, to disseminate job & resume-related into the farthest corners of the Earth !

Other websites
____________

If the focus of attention of jobseekers and recruiters, are Job Portals,

the focus of attention of

·       Already employed
·       Self – employed
·       Non-Seekers of employment

are

Ø  Travel Sites
Ø  Matrimonial Sites
Ø  Education Sites
Ø  Banking / Insurance site
Ø  Music / culture / Arts sites etc.etc.

But these Visitors (nearly all of them) have

Ø  Siblings
Ø  Children
Ø  Friends
Ø  Colleagues

who happen to be “ JobSeekers ”

These other websites can contribute to the mission of W3F by exchanging links or even becoming “Partners”

Governments
___________

Even if creating jobs may not be a “direct responsibility” of any Govt., or that “Right to job” may not be a constitutional right in most countries , all Government everywhere, have a moral responsibility to see that all it eligible citizens have jobs.

Towards this end, Governments of India (State & Central) have set up 900+ Employment Exchanges, where more than 38 million jobseekers have registered ( as of May 2010 ).

But, all Employment Exchanges put together could provide jobs (in 2009 ) to a mere 300,000 jobseekers !

Primary reason for such dismal performance is that there is hardly any “Exchange” of job-related or candidate related information through exchanges ( -despite some exchanges having their own websites ).

Apart from contributing through donations / advertisements etc., Govt. can hugely contribute by

Ø  having a Website for each Exchange

Ø  making all “Partners” of
