Subject: Sunday Special - We are all one Nation

We are all one Nation

For the last few years, Murali Manohar ji has been following the footsteps of Pannal Ghosh and was at peace with himself. However, all the newspapers he got and read showed a disturbing picture of the world, which includes Bharat. The venom party followers spewed on the opposition was becoming too poisonous for the environment.

He rang up Manmohan ji and said “It is time we played a friendly game of cricket between NDA and UPA.” Manmohan ji, knowing the power of cricket in reforming the environment (even sledging Aussies were tamed by IPL money), readily agreed.

It was agreed to play the match at the Ferozeshah Kotla Ground (awaiting renaming as Mithali Raj Stadium).  It was to be played by September 2019 end before October heat and November smog would take their toll.

It was also agreed that the allegedly tainted players (in cricket only) were to be kept out, just to project a cleaner image (yes, image) of the game. All players were also to be in all whites which anyway was the norm, most of the time, as far as the dress is concerned.

Two females from outside the political arena were to be included in each of the team. NDA selected Sunny Leone and UPA selected Rakhi Sawant.

NDA was a happy team till Narayan Rane was inducted into the playing 11 and Yashwant Sinha was named 12th man.

It was clear to UPA that Modi ji and Shah ji would be opening the batting for NDA. UPA Dressing Room leakages indicated that Rahul ji would be opening the bowling. Suggestion to him was that he should do what Charlie Griffith did to Nari Contractor. If he failed to do that in the first over itself, AK was to fire from all cylinders from the other end.

Commentators included MJ Akbar in English, Sanjay Nirupam in Hindi and Sanjay Raut in Marathi, with expert opinion from the most popular Coach Ravi Shastri.

UPA lead by the young and ebullient Rahul Gandhi ji won the toss and put NDA to bat first. UPA had created a record of sorts in chasing, mostly mirages but they were useful nevertheless.

The field setting was outstanding. Behind the stumps was Didi. Three slips and a gully were reserved for Yadavs – Lalu, Rabri and Misa with Mulayam at gully, … P Karunakaran and Sitaram Yechury were at long off and long on for latching on the lofted drives and also to wave the red flag in case anyone in the field misbehaves. Hardik Patel was at silly mid off and  Rakhi Sawant was at silly mid on, enough to distract any bastman. Mayawati was guarding the long leg.

The match starts.

Akbar: “In comes Rahul ji, with his smooth run up. And that is a bouncer aimed at Modi ji’s head. He steps back and hooks it. It flies over the head of Mayavati. It is a huge six. But it did not escape Yashwant Sinha in the stands who caught it cleanly. There was all round ovation for the catch including from UPA benches, but Modi ji is of course not out.”

Nirupam: “Now the second ball. Rahul ji tries a yorker. Modi ji steps forward this time and converts it into a full toss. It sails over the head of Karunakaran at long off. Waah kya baat hai. Aisa stroke bahut barson ke baad dekha.”  In excitement he forgot which party he belonged to and to find fault with the stroke, to hell with the runs.

AK walks upto Rajiv ji and they discuss the strategy for the next ball.

Raut: “What a beautiful outswinger but Modi ji is up to the task. He slices it through the slip cordon and the ball speeds to the boundary for a four.  Lalu dived to left and Rabri to right but the ball missed both of them. Misa rushes to help them get up, with Mulayam smugly looking at them from the gully position with a smirk on his face.  16 runs in 3 balls. Kai saingaicha. Sachin sutta asla stroke kadi hi khella naahi.” He followed Sanjay Nirupam in memory loss. Love-hate relationship was forgotten for a moment.

Bottles started flowing into the ground from the stadium from one side. Play was stopped for 5 minutes. There was no let up.
It was too much for the fielding side. Captain Rahul ji and the Vice Captain huddle together.

They felt it was a one sided game and wanted to give no chance to Amit Shah to emulate Modi ji. “I should have listened to mummy and not agreed to play this match.” He confided in AK.

They stage a walk out. Staging a walk out is not unparliamentary at all; in fact it is a practice even in the British Parliament.

Next thing we know they were all in a comradeship in the subsidised Canteen, the best place on earth where hunger and famine never visited and food was outstanding.

Murali Manohar and Manmohan Singh were happy at this sight. Manmohan ji addressed the group and exhorted them to ‘garibi hataao’. Murali Manoharji assured them that ‘acche din zaroor ayenge’. Everybody sang ‘hum honge kamyaab ek din’.

Yes, ek din!

Here is a message of friendship for the all the followers who are wasting their energy slinging mud at each other.

We are all one Nation!
