Hi Friends,

Even as I launch this today ( my 80th Birthday ), I realize that there is yet so much to say and do. There is just no time to look back, no time to wonder,"Will anyone read these pages?"

Dear Personal AI Friends & Family,

As our journey moves from the R&D beta phase to the GTM commercial phase, I want to keep you apprised of our developments and seek your support, ideas, and collaboration more than ever before.

If you are getting this email, it means in one way or another you are invested or interested in keeping up to date on our progress and in helping us fulfill our vision to bring personal AIs to everyone. If you do not wish to be a part of my F&F list, just reply to this email and let me know.

First, a quick recap for you and an update on our journey:

·         We are building personal AIs for all people. A personal AI is a digital version of the human mind.

·         We have built algorithms that take one’s writings, social feeds, content, and conversations and turn them into an interactive model.

·         We have built chat-like functionality for anyone to interact with an individual’s personal AI.

·         We are currently focused on creators, specifically thought leaders, such as writers, authors, storytellers, bloggers, tweeters, and podcasters to train their AIs every day for their communities to access their knowledge and skills.

Our initial cohort of creators is launching their personal AIs today, June 22nd. This is our first end-to-end system where creators can upload/train a personal AI and communities can access/interact with a personal AI. These creators’ AIs and some of the demo AIs will be accessible in a shared space, metaverse.personal.ai

Below, I’ve highlighted a couple of our creators for you:

Kary Oberbrunner is a best-selling author, podcaster, and CEO who has helped over 250,000 authors, coaches, speakers, and entrepreneurs. You can message Kary’s personal AI on topics like leadership, personal growth, business, publishing, intellectual property, and more.

Tom Cheesewright is an author, speaker, and applied futurist helping global brands see the future more clearly and respond with innovation. You can message Tom’s personal AI on topics like the future of work, technology, health, education, finance, transportation, the metaverse, and more.

We’d appreciate your support in spreading the word to your social communities.

To this I replied as follows :

Hi Suman,

Congratulations to you – and to your entire brilliant team – for reaching this important mile-stone in your exciting journey .

I am yet to dig deep enough  into the U/I ( at metaverse.personal.ai. ), to be able to offer my feedback, but following are my immediate reactions :

Questions / Observations :

Ø  Creators “ are listed on the extreme left-side column, from which, I get to pick one by clicking. This will work fine when that list is short . But how will it work when that

list grows to a few thousands ? Even a long scroll will not suffice ! For a short period, ALPHABETICAL search might help

Ø  How does one decide “ whom “ to choose / select from that long list ? At times, age – country – education level etc. of the creator, may be somewhat relevant but most of

the time, these criteria may be irrelevant. The most relevant criteria is :

“  From this long list, which guy is “ the most knowledgeable “ about a given topic / subject, where I have a question to ask ?  Who , among these thousands, is likely to

provide me with the most satisfactory answer ? When I comment on his answer, will he elaborate by replying ?

Ø  Upon selecting a creator ( by clicking ), his name appears on the top. Clicking small blue button, reveals a small message-box containing his very brief profile. I think, that

profile should be much more comprehensive ( as suggested in the U / I template that I sent to you on 09 Dec 2021 – see attachment ). That will help the questioner to

decide whether he should engage with that person

In fact, if you refer to my template, I had suggested listing of KEYWORDS in the right-hand column. These are the “ areas of expertise / domain knowledge “ of that

creator. A quick glance tells me if I should engage with that creator or not . If a certain keyword is totally missing from that list or appears right at the bottom, then that is

an indication that this creator is not knowledgeable in that topic ( so, why waste time ? )

Ø  As against my suggestion of clicking a keyword from left-side column, you have provided for clicking on any “ highlighted “ word appearing in any of the creator’s memory

blocks presented. This has its limitations . We should be able to present to the visitor, a large number of topic keywords depicting the “ domain knowledge “ of creator

Ø  Now, it does not come easily to most visitors to “ frame “ logical / relevant and grammatically correct “ questions “, by just picking a keyword. It was for this reason that I

had suggested that your algorithm present a few “ CANNED “ questions ( pertaining to the selected keyword ), as soon as a keyword gets selected.  Visitor can select (

tick ) one of these OR type out his own. This “ user friendly feature “ would encourage the visitors to experiment and popularize your offering

Ø  How do I “ invite “ my relatives / friends / acquaintances / colleagues ( running into hundreds ) to visit “ MY AI PAGE “ ?

By emailing to them this link > metaverse.personal.ai  ?  How will they find MY AI from thousands listed in left-hand column ?  None is likely to take the trouble to search

out MY AI from those thousands ! I am sure, you are aware of the fact that most first-time visitors to any site, spend no more than 10 seconds before leaving !

No one has time to “ search “ – especially if they are viewing a site on their mobile ( may be 90 % ? )

It should be possible for a creator to e-mail to his contacts, a URL of his own AI , needing no search by the recipients .

Any recipient should be able to directly “ access “my own AI ( land on my page ) , simply by clicking on the link which I send

In fact, such “ email marketing of MY AI “ should be made possible , directly from your site ! By linking with Gmail – Outlook etc ?

With regards,

Hemen

hi Hemen,

this is really good feedback.

Indeed people will be able to use their AI address to share but the full capability for it is not yet developer.

You can still go to tom.personal.ai and land at the right place.. more coming and this feedback is helpful

I wrote back :

Hi Suman,

Thanks . I am glad you liked my feedback

If you recall , in my hand-drawn U / I ( of my personal AI ) , I have envisaged a ( distant ? ) future when :

Ø  Instead of “ My AI “ responding in TEXT to a query by a Visitor, both engage with each other through SPEECH

Ø Holographic Avatar of both, dialogue like living persons

New Amazon Alexa feature will creepily mimic dead loved one's voices

( Mashable / 23 June 2022 )

Your dead loved ones are never really gone, they're just trapped inside Amazon's voice-assisted devices.

Wednesday, at Amazon's conference re:MARS (machine learning, automation, robotics, and space) Rohit Prasad, SVP and head scientist of Alexa AI announced Alexa's new supernatural talent: the ability to mimic someone's voice using less than a minute of recording

A spokesperson said in an email this is something Amazon has been exploring based on recent advancements in TTS (text-to-speech) technology. Amazon didn't have a specific timeline to share, only that is it something it is currently working on.

Prasad described the voices of dead loved ones as a primary use case for this feature citing attributes of empathy and affect as keys to building trust with a companion, in this case, an AI-powered device.

"These attributes have become even more important in the times of the on - going pandemic when so many of us have lost someone we love," said Prasad. "While AI can't eliminate that pain of loss it can definitely make their memories last."

In the demo, a young boy is seen lying on the couch and flipping through a book. He then asks, "Alexa can Grandma finish reading me the Wizard of Oz." Alexa says, "OK," and Grandma's voice starts reading as the boy happily listens while thumbing through the book.

Something tells me not everyone would react so calmly when they hear the voice of a dead loved one through an AI device.

Email from Suman Kanuganti on 23 Aug 2022  ( personal.ai ) :

Hi Hemen ,

And today is a big day.

We’re transitioning out of Beta and launching our full commercial product.

We’re happy to share some exciting new features and designs with you that are included in our new subscription plans.

New Features You’ll Love

Teach Mode

Training is the most important part of creating your AI so we wanted to make it as easy as possible.

Now, to train your AI on your memories, knowledge, experiences, and inspirations all you have to do is simply have a conversation with it in Teach Mode.

Everything will be automatically uploaded and organized within your memory stack. Just 5-10 minutes out of your day is all it takes.

New AI Abilities

The more you upload and teach your AI, the more amazing abilities it unlocks to help you make more of your knowledge:

  • The ability to self-organize your knowledge and intelligently create smart topics for easy recall.

  • The ability to rewrite your messages to improve grammar and clarity.

  • The ability to synthesize all your knowledge on a topic and generate a concise summary.

  • The ability to make connections across different topics to inspire new thoughts.

  • The ability to auto-complete sentences as you type and generate rough drafts.

  • The ability to answer open-ended questions from anyone.

You Ask, It Answers

Want to know what your AI knows, just ask

With every upload, your AI automatically generates fact-based questions based on your data.

As your AI gets smarter, you can ask it more open-ended questions about the things you know.

Natural Language Commands

Want to take a quick note, just type “ take a quick note .”

Want to upload content from the web, type “ upload a url. ”

Want some new inspiration, type “ show connections. ”

In addition to all the new helpful things your AI can do, getting your AI to do them is way more natural now.
