TRANSLATING OF MOCK TESTS INTO INDIAN LANGUAGES

 Kishan ,

Further to your Whatsapp message re the possibility to offer “ Select Language “ in Mock Tests , I just had following chat with ChatGPT

Hcp

I asked :

Good Morning , ChatGPT : with support of GPT - 4o mini , I was , today , able to launch www.My-Teacher.in // In here , students can generate / take , MCQ tests for NEET - JEE and CET // As of today , my portal offers this , only in English . But in India, a great majority of students have their local state language as Medium of Instructions // It is therefore of vital importance that My-Teacher is made capable to offer to generate these tests in these local languages as well. This is not as simple as just translating English text into another Indian language, since the questions of Physics - Chemistry - Biology - Maths , contain complex EQUATIONS and SYMBOLS, for which equivalent is not available . I request you to find and let me know the online RESOURCES which can do this translation job through API

ChatGPT replied :

Congratulations on launching www.My-Teacher.in! Expanding to include local languages is indeed a crucial step for reaching a wider audience in India.

To help you find suitable online resources that can provide translation services through API, especially for complex subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Maths, here are some options to consider:

1.      Google Cloud Translation API:

    • Google Cloud Translation offers a powerful API that supports numerous Indian languages. It handles complex text and can be customized to better handle subject-specific terminology.
    • However, for mathematical symbols and equations, you might need to preprocess or use LaTeX to ensure correct rendering.

2.      Microsoft Azure Translator:

    • Azure Translator supports a wide range of languages, including several Indian languages. It also offers customization options to better handle technical terms.
    • Like Google, you may need to use additional tools to manage mathematical content.

3.      iTranslate:

    • iTranslate provides API services that support various Indian languages. It might be useful for basic translation needs but may require integration with other tools to handle complex equations.

4.      SYSTRAN Translation API:

    • SYSTRAN offers customizable translation solutions that can be tuned for specific domains, including technical and scientific fields. It supports several Indian languages and may offer better handling of specialized terminology.

5.      Amazon Translate:

    • Amazon Translate provides API access for translating text into several languages, including Indian languages. It's integrated into the AWS ecosystem and offers robust tools for customization and domain-specific adaptation.

For translating complex equations and symbols, you might need to:

  • Use LaTeX or similar markup languages to encode equations.
  • Consider integrating a MathML (Mathematical Markup Language) parser or similar tool to ensure correct rendering across languages.
  • Work with these translation services to maintain the integrity of the scientific content.

Combining these translation services with domain-specific preprocessing tools for equations could help you achieve the desired functionality on your portal.

I Continued :

What about BHASHINI and SUTRA , recently launched in India ?

ChatGPT replied :

Bhashini and SUTRA are indeed significant initiatives launched in India to promote language accessibility and technology integration for Indian languages. Here's a brief overview of each:

1. Bhashini (Bhasha AI)

  • Overview: Bhashini is part of the National Language Translation Mission (NLTM) aimed at breaking the language barrier in India by leveraging AI-based language technology. It is designed to create a multilingual ecosystem where various government services, education content, and other information can be accessed in local Indian languages.
  • API Availability: Bhashini is expected to provide APIs that developers can integrate into their platforms for real-time translation and transliteration. This could be highly beneficial for translating educational content, including complex subjects like those on www.My-Teacher.in.
  • Special Features: Bhashini is being developed with a focus on handling Indian languages more naturally, including domain-specific language models, which might be helpful for translating scientific and mathematical content.

2. SUTRA (Super Utterance Translation and Retrieval Algorithm)

  • Overview: SUTRA is another initiative under the NLTM. It focuses on developing advanced algorithms for speech and text translation, specifically tailored to the needs of Indian languages. SUTRA aims to handle not just text translation but also speech-to-text and text-to-speech in Indian languages.
  • API Availability: Like Bhashini, SUTRA is expected to provide APIs that can be integrated into educational platforms for seamless translation and language processing. This would be useful for offering content in multiple languages, including handling the technical aspects of subjects like Physics, Chemistry, and Maths.
  • Special Features: SUTRA is designed to understand the context better and translate complex sentences and domain-specific jargon more accurately.

Potential Application for www.My-Teacher.in:

  • Bhashini and SUTRA could potentially offer more accurate and culturally relevant translations for Indian languages, especially for educational content. They are designed with Indian linguistic diversity in mind, which might make them more effective than general-purpose global tools.
  • The focus on context and domain-specific language could help maintain the accuracy of complex equations, symbols, and technical terms during translation.

Since these initiatives are relatively new, it would be advisable to stay updated on their API releases and capabilities. Integrating these with your platform could greatly enhance its accessibility and effectiveness in multiple languages.

Take a look

Breaking News :

“  200 lakhs students will practice for NEET – JEE – MH CET,  from their Mobiles “

Mumbai / 29 Aug 2024 :

It seems millions of students will no more need to :

Ø   Travel hundreds of kilometers away from their small towns / villages

Ø   Stay in overcrowded and illegal , dungeons called “ Student Hostels / Paying Guest Accommodations “

Ø   Join dilapidated / congested / dangerous , Coaching Classes

Ø   Pay anywhere between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 5 lakh, as FEES ( - money borrowed by their parents )

Ø   Spend 2 / 3 years practicing Multiple Choice MOCK TESTS, handed out on pieces of papers

All of this will soon be a “ Matter of Choice “ – a choice between the scenario described above , and :

Ø   Accessing www.My-Teacher.in , on mobile

Ø   It is a totally FREE online service .  No need to download any App.  On your mobile, just type, www.My-Teacher.in

Ø   It does not require any REGISTRATION-OTP-PASSWORD-LOGIN ( total privacy / anonymity )

Ø   In www.My-Teacher.in , anyone can generate – and take – any number of mock tests, at any time and from anywhere

Ø   As soon as a student “ selects “ one of the 4 options for the FIRST question and SUBMITS, result is announced

Ø   If the option selected was RIGHT, instant feedback reads “ CORRECT “, giving reasons

Ø   If the option selected was WRONG, instant feedback reads “ INCORRECT “, giving detailed explanation

Ø   This is the PROGRAMMED LEARNING , at its best ( make mistake and learn at once

Ø   As soon as the student completes answering all 10 questions, she can view her TEST SCORE HISTORY

Ø   A student can SHARE her “ Test Feedback  /  Test Score History “ with friends or teachers

Ø   Answers / Feedback are delivered, both as TEXT and in SPEECH

Ø   Even if the entire world population ( approx.. 8 Billion ), were to make identical selection criteria ( say,  JEE / Maths ) – no

two persons would see the SAME set of questions !

Ø   Every set will be UNIQUE, no matter a student generates any given test, a BILLION times !

It is possible that, given these options :

Ø   Every 12th Standard student will start practicing for NEET – JEE – CET , from home

Ø   Teachers of our 15 lakh Schools may even consider installing www.My-Teacher.in on their mobiles for a quick reference

Ø   Manufacturers / Suppliers of Computerized Interactive Panels may pre-install www.My-Teacher.in ( - remember children being able to ASK questions by SPEAKING and getting SPOKEN answers in 9 Indian languages ? )

AT LONG LAST

 Bhumika ,

At long last , I have managed to launch the “ Mock Test “ feature on www.My-Teacher.in

The ball is now in your court !

Please take a look at the attached letter , addressed to parents of school children

Can you help get it across the parents of 12000 students of your 4 schools ? I will be happy to bear whatever that might cost

In the meantime , if your teachers find VALUE in generating those mock tests , and showing their class-children , I would think , it would serve the same purpose

Also I renew my request to share this feature with your contacts in CBSE / State Education Boards etc

I will highly appreciate your feedback

PROMOTION among 3p Contacts

 Sandeep ,

About 6 weeks ago , we had sent out a promo email ( for promoting My-Teacher ) to some 95,000 FF executives , treating them as PARENTS

Now attached find a fresh draft ( for promoting Mock Test ) for sending to the same group

BUT strictly on condition that this MUST NOT lead to blacklisting of any of our Domain Names or any services from any service providers

It should be sent only if you can come up with a FOOLPROOF METHOD , which is acceptable to Nirmit and Mitchelle

Pl discuss with them any suggestion that you might have and ( if possible ) , by lunch , let me know their final decision

I NEED YOUR HELP

 Dear Colleagues ,

I need your help once more

As of this morning , Mock Test feature ( NEET – JEE – CET ) has gone live on www.My-Teacher.in

All credit goes to Kishan – Sandeep – Sanjivani and Manish , all of who contributed to this launch

Now I have following request :

Ø    Each one of you take any one mock test , attempting ALL 10 questions , one after another ( do not bother whether CORRECT or INCORRECT ) and complete entire test . This will generate your “ Test Score History “ . After that , by clicking this link , you will get to see your TEST HISTORY . Pl take the test on your mobile

Ø   Now take one more test , till you get a CORRECT answer ( feedback text will have GREEN background ). When this happens , you will see a link which reads “ Brag to Your Classmates “ . Click this to open your Whatsapp . Then select those among your contacts who , you think might be interested in knowing about your DISCOVERY and might get tempted to visit www.My-Teacher.in , and try out this feature on their own ( I just sent one to SPARSH ! )

Blogs

 Sanjivani ,

My comments on today’s blogs :

Ø      Ayushman Bharat

Ø      Extract under “ News Link “ , has NOTHING to do with the actual news !

Ø     Under “ My Take “ that one link too is totally irrelevant !

Immediately SCRAP entire blog

Ø     Large Digital Platforms

Second link ( Diversification Strategic Output ) is totally irrelevant  !   First link is somewhat OK .  Delete second link

In future spend a few minutes to check the RELEVANCE of all the links before uploading

FORECASTING FUTURE ?

 Dear Avneesh :

I just came across following article in Times of India :

This Tech cuts road accidents by 40 % - 50 %

Congratulations on your path-breaking innovations  !

I am particularly impressed with the following ( excerpts ) :

Ø   The device integrates multiple sensors – GPS, LTE connectivity, several cameras, inertial sensing unit – and is fitted on the windshield. A software ties it all together. “The real innovation is in the software where we are running all of the algorithms at the edge and really understanding the world around us,” says Avneesh

Ø   Avneesh says the company is able to very accurately predict the chances of a driver having an accident in the next 12 months, or how many vehicles in a large fleet could have an accident in the next 12 months.

Ø   “We are training a foundational model, similar to an LLM. It allows us to predict fairly accurately how the world will evolve in the next 2-3 seconds. It’s in the early stages, but the results are very interesting. GenAI models almost show emergent behaviour, a level of reasoning very similar to humans, they can anticipate situations that they have not even been trained for. I think this will leapfrog us to the next level in understanding safety and guiding drivers,” Avneesh says.

Avneesh ,

Given the expertise that your team has developed in the area of PREDICTIVE ANALYSIS , I have no doubt that it can be applied to “ predict “ , a large number of human behaviors – some of which I can share with you , should you so desire

But today , I wish to invite you – and your team – to consider taking up a challenge wherein a “ SELF-MOTIVATED “ human behavior can gravitate on its own, towards a LEAST POLLUTING  TRANSPORT  SYSTEM , - with most impact on reduction of Air Pollution

I realize that this may not fall within a direct purview of  your “ area of interest “ .

I urge you to look upon it as a matter of your “ area of expertise “

I urge you to consider :
