Dear Dr Vasudevan,

I read with great interest news about your innovation of “ Plastic Tiles “ ( made from old plastic scrap ) , in yesterday’s Mumbai Mirror

Congratulations !

Your innovation has the potential to solve twin problems , viz : Plastic scrap pollution and poor road surfaces

At one place , report reads : “ Plastone tiles are costlier than ordinary tiles “ ( concrete paver blocks ? )

This ( cost ) could prove a deterrent to a wide adoption of Plastone

I am sure, you must be working on reducing the cost ( much below the cost of paver blocks )

And , as far as its “ non-road “ usage ( eg : walls for those 10 lakh toilets ) is concerned, you may want to explore some method to make these “ light weight “ and “ inter-lockable

Eg : Foam concrete ( on which , I worked at the University of Kansas , in 1957 , under Prof Crosier )

Wishing you all success

Dear Dr Vasudevan,

From a report in Mumbai Mirror ( 21 Oct ) , I learned about your visit / talk at the Indian Centre for Plastic in the Environment ( ICPE )

https://mumbaimirror.indiatimes.com/others/sunday-read/the-problem-with-banning-plastic/articleshow/66299732.cms

It is indeed sad that , neither the Central Government nor the State governments are embracing your technological innovation

One question :

Can we add some kind of “ resin / binder “ to finely shredded / ground plastic carry-bags and convert into paver blocks / building bricks , in a compression press ?

If yes , this can help construct “ low cost houses “ which are light weight / insulated / quick to construct ( may be through making the blocks interlocking , like a LEGO )

DEAR SHRI GADKARIJI : THIS IS YOUR CHANCE FOR BIG-BANG REFORM

Govt to limit incentive plan for auto to green vehicles

https://lnkd.in/e_VPcZ7x ( 11 Sept 2021 )

======================================

Limiting incentives to GREEN vehicles was just ONE of the many suggestions in my following e-mail to Cabinet Ministers, more than TWO YEARS ago :

FAME II > FAME III > FAME IV ( 05 Mar 2019 )

https://lnkd.in/ei-_AZTC

There were many others under FAME III ( Apr 22/ Mar 26 ), covering :

> Corporate Income Tax

> Batteries

> Solar Powered EVs

> Dis-incentives for ICE vehicles

> Recycling of Old Vehicles

> Incentives for Buyers of EV

> Retrofitting

> Incentives for E Bikes

> Introduction of 24x7 Trans-Tax on all vehicles

> Wet Leasing

> Carbon Credits for use of Public Transport

> Amendments To Electricity Act

> Policy to encourage SHARED transport

> Policy to encourage WFH

--------------------------------------------------------

I hope some of these will get incorporated in the Policy expected to be announced next week

Sub : 1000 TIMES MORE POWERFUL SOLAR PV PANELS

============================================================

Dear Akash,

After considerable search, I found your e-mail ID at :

https://parksystems.com/medias/nano-academy/webinars/115-webinars/1903-photovoltaic-effect-in-ferroelectric-materials-by-using-piezoresponse-force-microscopy-pfm-june-17-2020

I hope this message reaches you – and hope you find a few minutes to respond

A few days back, I came across a news report re your research on PV Solar Panels which produced 1,000 times more current

I thought ( if quickly commercialized ), that invention could enable every house ( including small huts ) to generate its own / full requirement of power , by mounting such panels on their Roof Tops / Terraces

That could enable the World to shut down ALL fossil-fuel based power-plants and help avoid climate catastrophe through global warming

Without waiting to check-out with you, I sent out following e-mail to all of India’s Cabinet Ministers :

How to reduce Carbon Emission to Net Zero ? …………….[ 25 July 2021 ]

WHY HAS ROOF-TOP SOLAR FAILED TO TAKE OFF IN INDIA ?

In India, a typical ( concrete / stone ) building has, no more than 500 / 600 sq ft of terrace-space

Even if entire terrace was covered , current PV panels can generate just about 5Kwp of power , which is hardly enough for even ONE flat ( one family ) in that building

That apart, since there is ( at present ), no way in which Solar Power ( generated during the day ) can be stored for use in evening / night

That forces ,

    #  feeding this ( day-time ) power into the grid of local power distribution company ( DISCOM ) , using REVERSE METERING

    #  drawing / using GRID POWER at night

Indian DISCOMs are not happy losing their customers ( reduced demand ) and take weeks / months to grant permission for Reverse Metering ( outright discouragement )

YOUR INVENTION IS THE SOLUTION. HERE IS HOW :

Current PV technology will give 5 Kwp ( from 500 sq ft )

Your tech ( being 1,000 times more productive ), will produce 5,000 Kwp !

Or , just 5 sq ft of terrace, can produce 50 Kwp ( enough for most Concrete / Stone buildings, of which, India could have 50 million , as per my estimate  )

That means ( at a conservative estimate ),these 50 million buildings can generate 250 GW of Roof-top Solar !

As against India’s target of generating 45 GW of Roof-top Solar by next year ( 2022 ), we have so far managed only 5 GW !

HOW CAN YOU HELP INDIA ?

Ø  Through your willingness to transfer your technology to several Indian firms manufacturing PV Solar Panels . I request that you make such an offer to ,

      #   Shri R K Singh , India’s Minister for Renewable Energy / rajkumar.singh19@sansad.nic.in

ANY OTHER ISSUE ?

Ø  Yes. Each Rooftop Solar installation must be made stand-alone . No feeding day-time power generation into local GRID. No Reverse Metering . Total independence

Ø  This would require a reasonably-sized STORAGE BATTERY that can store power for a long period and can be installed on the terrace

ARE SUCH BATTERIES AVAILABLE ?

Ø  Fortunately , FORM ENERGY ( Boston / USA ) claim to have developed an IRON-AIR battery that can store power for 100 hours

Extract from their website :

      #    Our first commercial product using our iron-air technology is optimized to store electricity for 100 hours at system costs competitive with legacy power plants

      #    Each individual battery is about the size of a washing machine. Each of these modules is filled with a water-based, non-flammable electrolyte, similar to the electrolyte used in AA

batteries. Inside of the liquid electrolyte are stacks of between 10 and 20 meter-scale cells, which include iron electrodes and air electrodes, the parts of the battery that enable the

electrochemical reactions to store and discharge electricity.

      #   Our battery systems can be sited anywhere, even in urban areas, to meet utility-scale energy needs

      #   LOW-COST > Stores energy at less than 1/10th the cost of lithium-ion battery technology.

      #   RELIABLE > Delivers 100+ hour duration required to make wind, water, and solar reliable, year round, anywhere in the world.

   Dear Akash,

I urge you to respond to my request – even if your answer is “ NO “

====================================================================

Shri Dattatri Salagameji

MD, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions

Dear Dattatriji,

Just read in today’s Times Nation ( print copy ):

Bosch’s India engrs are converting cars to mobility gadgets ( could not find e-link )

In this article, you are quoted as follows :

“ I call cars mobility gadgets. We have, for instance, developed solutions which bring context-relevant information in the car, which can be extremely useful for users.

Say you pass by a shopping mall as you drive, you’ll get personalized recommendations on your infotainment screen, as well as parking options “

I am sure, your clever engineers can “ REVERSE “ this process , as described in my following blog :

 Future of Advertising ……………………………(  30 Aug 2018 )

Extract from blog :

Say , a spectacle-wearing pedestrian is standing on the footpath , in front of a shop of SUNAYAN OPTICIANS and sees a BEST bus approaching .

He had visited an eye doctor in the morning ( record on Mobile )

Lo and behold ! He sees on the side of the bus , an ADVT from SUNAYAN OPTICIANS , saying : FREE eye check up for the next 15 minutes !

That advt turns into an ad from AJANTA CHEMIST ( located 50 feet away down the road ) , where a pedestrian has a mobile in his hand , using which , he had ordered PENTOCID tablets in the morning

To his amazement , he notices that the Google Ad urges him to buy ANTACID tablets at 20 % discount - of course, from AJANTA CHEMIST !

Somewhere else you are quoted as :

“ We believe all vehicles will become like mobile phones. They will all be connected, and just as your phone gets updated regularly, you will have new features that will be regularly updated onto your car. Cars will become dynamic products … You need very deep domain knowledge to understand the systems in a car. We need people who can write code and algorithms that control the mechanical systems “

Dear Dattatriji,

As per this article, you plan to hire 2,500 engineers this year . When you advertise, possibly 250,000 engineers will apply

No doubt, your recruitment process will be :

Ø   Multi Stage

Ø   Involve some kind of WRITTEN TEST

Ø   Face – to – face Interview / Assessment

But a moot question is :

Even if you plan to call only 3 candidates against each position, how do you “ shortlist /  zero in “ on 7,500 out of those 250,000 applicants ?

     Here is a suggestion :

Send them following link and ask them to send to you, a one page LOGIC of how , if selected , he / she will prepare a detailed PROJECT PLAN to implement it :

Transport : an Integrated Logistic Plan ? ………………………….[ 20 Nov 2018 ]

And, as far as those engineers who you already employ, you may want them to expand their VISION  HORIZON by going through :

A Brief History of Electric Vehicles in India ………………………..[ 30 Jan 2021 ]

Traffic Offences are a Lesser Priority  ………………………………..[ 14 Mar 2021 ]

Thank You, Shri Dhakneji, …………………………………………………[ 16 Mar 2021 ]
