Consumer Database for new web site B2C

Field-wise  Analysis  of Database of  47  Lakh Candidates  sent to  Sentient  Systems

My comments below are keeping in mind that in  www.B2CmessageBlaster.com  ( web site planned to be developed by LTIT students ) , it is this database of 47 lakhs that we treat as “ CONSUMERS “

We want the registered Subscribers of B2C ,(  potentially our 7 lakh Companies / Businesses in Resume Blast database) to be able to access database of these 47 lakh CONSUMERS and  create numerous MAILING LISTS ( demographic profiles ) , then mail-merge,

Ø  No of Messages with No of Mailing Lists

And blast their messages ( Marketing Campaigns )

Enabling the COMPANIES / SUBSCRIBERS to be able to create “ Sharply Defined “ demographic profiles , has to be our USP ( Unique Selling Proposition ) of B2C

This  process ( of creating Demographic Profiles ) in B2C , has to be very similar to a Recruiter conducting RESUME SEARCH in CustomizeResume , and then saving / storing the SEARCH RESULTS

When I looked up some Resumes at “ RESUME  ARCHIVE “ page , I noticed that , in the resume being displayed , some interesting fields ( from the view point of generating Demographic Profiles ) , are missing – although these are present in the original records sent to Sentient Systems ( Forwarded separately )

May be we had good reasons to omit these as far as the “ Needs “ of Recruiters were concerned ( in CustomizeResume.com ). This assumption needs to be re-examined

However , as far as the SUBSCRIBER COMPANIES of  B2C are concerned , they should be enabled to drill-down deeper , using these fields

Here are these FIELDS :

The following columns / data are useful to RECRUITERS ( in CustomiseResume ) but do not help Marketers in B2C , for the purpose of creating Demographic Profiles .

What could be the reason we left these out from the resume display ?

Of course Industry and Functional Area need to be MAPPED with our MASTERS

May be we have done that !

Projects for Computer stream students

Dear Prof Damahe

I write with ref to our discussions last Monday re projects for the 7^th semester  computer stream students
I am glad that , with an enthusiastic support from the faculty , a number of students came forward to develop following web sites as their projects :

Ø  www.B2BmessageBlaster.com

Ø  www.B2CmessageBlaster.com

I have already booked URLs for both in the name of RecruitGuru
During the interaction with the students/faculty , I was informed that,

Ø  The 7^th semester will stretch till end Nov. 2013

Ø  The students will devote 7/8 hours every week for the projects

Ø  Even some ( interested ) 8^th semester students may get roped in

Ø  There will be 2 teams ( of approx 6/8 students each ) , working on each web site

Ø  Each team will be divided into 2 groups of 3 / 4 students and share the development effort

Ø  Each team will be guided by 2 faculty members

As far as page write-ups / User Interfaces are concerned , I have already sent the same to you for www.B2BmessageBlaster.com
For www.B2CmessageBlaster.com is concerned , I will send these to you , latest by coming Monday ( 22nd )
Mr Shuklendu Baji ( MD – Sentient Systems ) has kindly agreed to guide the students and the faculty in matters of web site design / architecture / technology etc. He can be reached on Skype / TeamViewer / Email or Mobile

In relation to these projects , I propose ( subject to your concurrence ) as follows :

Ø  At the end of successful completion of these projects , RecruitGuru will offer to each participating student , a gift voucher of Rs 1,000 / - and to each participating Faculty Member , a gift voucher of Rs 2,000 /-

Ø  Both web sites must be fully ready for testing by Sentient System Team , by end of Sept 2013

Ø  Sentient System Team will complete the testing by 10^th Oct and give feedback / correction instructions to Project Teams

Ø  Project Teams will carry out these corrections and make a presentation to an audience ( to be decided by you ), in the week starting 28^th Oct

Ø  You may wish to constitute a Panel of Judges who will judge the presentations and pick the Winner Team

Ø  Sentient Systems will upload the projects on RecruitGuru server and launch these web sites on 17^th Nov 2013 ( Mine and Bharati’s 54^th wedding Anniversary )

Please let me know if you agree with this proposal / time-frame

Our assigning these projects to LTIT students carry the following conditions :

Ø  Neither the students nor the faculty nor anyone else in the know of the projects , shall divulge / share / transmit any details of the projects to a third party

Ø  The Source Code and the Documentations developed shall be handed over to RecruitGuru and only RecruitGuru shall have the sole/exclusive Intellectual Property Rights to these

Ø  No copy of the Source Code / Documentation shall be retained with or by LTIT or any of its employees or any of the students

Notwithstanding the above-mentioned conditions , I am agreeable to give due Credits to the concerned project-students by inserting , at the bottom of each page ( of the concerned web site ) , write-up / hyperlinks as follows :

If you so desire , this last hyperlink can link to a new page of LTIT web site , where you may display brief profiles / photos of the concerned students

Thanks for the clarification but the “ mixture “ does not help my purpose

I would still be interested in two separate databases of ,

Ø Fresh graduates ( who passed out in 2011 and 2012 )

Ø Experienced Professionals ( with more than 2 years of working experience )

As per recent research carried out by consulting firm, Knowledgefaber , India’s 33,000 colleges churned out 5,090,799 graduates in 2013

I presume , a similar number must have passed out in 2012

That would add up to approx 100 lakh ( 10 million ) graduates passing out in last 2 years

I am interested in having a database of these 10 million

Thank you for all the arrangements made yesterday to meet the students and share with them the details of the 2 projects
Please send me the names / email Ids of the ,

Ø Each team member ( project wise )

Ø Each faculty member who will guide these teams

This will help me to communicate to all concerned with each projects ,

Ø Relevant reading / reference materials ( eg URLs of useful web sites )

Ø My own further / developing thoughts on the projects

Ø Any explanations that may be asked of me ( by students or by the guides )

Considering that the student can devote only a limited time on the projects , it is necessary that,

Ø Project is broken up into sub-projects / activities

Ø A project – plan is prepared , using either MS Project or some PERT Network software ( which can be freely downloaded from Net )

Ø Resources are allocated to completion of each activity by “ Target Completion Dates “

Remember , how your teams systematically go about “ PLANNING “ the projects is as much a “ Learning Context “ as the web sites to be developed
It is also important for all participants ( including the Guides ) to remember that these are no mere theoretical projects
These are living / valuable / industry requirements which thousands are likely to use in the years to come – and appreciate , if found to solve their real-life problems
By elegantly conceiving / executing such “ Industry-Specific “ projects , your students would acquire those “ Skills “ which Industry demand and , thereby make themselves “ Employable “

Aakash Tablets from IIT-B

Dear Prof Damahe

Following news report talks of IIT-B , having distributed 200 Aakash Tablets to each of the 250 colleges

Did LTIT get any ?

If we didn’t then we should

Not only because you are collaborating with Prof Rahul Deshmukh but also because ,

Ø  LTIT proximity to IIT-B , enabling quick / meaningful / across-the-table interaction and feedback on Aakash project

Ø  LTIT’s standing amongst all Diploma level Engineering Colleges in Maharashtra

I believe , offering to IIT-B , to develop some Diploma-level Educational content for Aakash project , by the faculty of LTIT , would enthuse Prof Deepak Pathak , in enrolling LTIT into the Aakash Eco System

And getting 100 Aakash tablets for use by your faculty would expose them to the internet based educational content

If desired , I am willing to accompany you , if , after getting your proposal , Dr Deepak Pathak desires a personal meeting

With the March 31 deadline for receiving a lakh units of Aakash 2 over, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay has started charging delayed delivery penalty from Datawind, the company supplying the tablets. The institute has received only 51,000 tablets so far.

The tablet was launched in October 2011, but there were some delays. Subsequently, in April 2012, IIT Bombay took on the responsibility and one lakh units of the new version of the tablet or Aakash 2 were to be ready for supply to institutes across the country by March 31 this year.

"We recently had a meeting with representatives from Datawind. They have claimed that the delivery of tablets was delayed owing to delay in customs clearance, and due to delay in their Indian manufacturers completing their production line. However, as per the terms and conditions, we are charging 0.5 per cent penalty per week for delayed delivery," said IIT Bombay professor D B Phatak, who is heading the project from the institute.

He said another 15,000 units are expected soon. "Although there have been delays, we expect that the one-lakh target will be met by this month-end," he said. The funds for one lakh units have been provided by Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

So far, IIT Bombay has issued new tablets to 250 colleges across the country. Each college has received 200 to 250 tablets. These colleges are IIT Bombay's remote centres for training engineering teachers across the country. "The colleges will use the tablets to teach courses, to develop more applications and content, among others," Phatak added.

The colleges will have to give continuous feedback to IIT Bombay on its use, the subjects that are being covered and features that need to be added to the tablet. The information will be put in a common repository, to be used in open source, so that it can be utilised by students and faculty across the country.
