Yesterday , I spent 2 hours at L.A. Municipal School ,
Shivaji Park , visiting a STATIC TOY LIBRARY project , organized by CTF
Vandana ( CTF Project Coordinator ) provided following
info re CTF projects , all over India :

Some are individual-player games and quite a few are

Apart from Library-based toys / games , Vandana and
her assistants ( Ranjana + Pragati ) , also conduct some 50 types of OUTDOOR
GAMES in the school compound . These games DO NOT need any equipment

PHYSICAL FACILITIES ( provided by the School ) :
Room = 20 feet by 15 feet ( I also saw another 2 rooms
with CTF Toy Library logos / write ups )
Toy Cabinets = 6 ( open shelves ). I will email

GAME SUPERVISORS / TRAINERS :
There are 5 girls ( Min 12th Std pass /
Ocassionally those doing D.Ed - Diploma in Education )
Salary = Basic Rs 9000 pm + Rs 800 for
conveyance + Rs 400 for cleaning – rearranging of toys / sweeping of
floors / Water filter etc
Although full salary is paid , during the first year
on job , these trainers are under “ training “ themselves while helping an
older employee
Teachers’ salaries are paid by CTF ( sponsored by
Companies under CSR – Corporate Social Responsibility – legal obligation )
Current Sponsors include : HDFC / L&T / VIBHA –
USA / etc

SCHOOL DATA :
This School has Jr Kg to 7th Standard ,
with a total of 600 students
Each STANDARD ( Grade ) gets 4 Toy-Library-Periods per
week
Daily , Library conducts 5 PERIODS ( approx. 1 hour
each ) , starting at 10:30 am till 4:45 pm
Lunch Break …. 12:30 to 1:15
Tea Break : 3:15 to 3:45 pm
Library Cleaning : 9:15 am to 10:15 am ( by
teachers themselves )
Arranging for next day : 4:45 pm to 5:00 pm
During my visit , two classes got conducted , with
children sitting on floor and playing Scrabble etc

TRAINING COST :
CTF will depute 2 trainers to Vadia for a period of 4
/ 5 days and train our ( selected / designated ) teachers in the proper
arrangement / maintenance of toys and how to conduct the PERIODS . For this ,
CTF will charge us Rs 25,000
We will have to bear the cost of to / from train
fare ( from Mumbai – Vadia ) , arrange accommodation and food in Vadia
IMPORTANT NOTE :
CTF has already set up such a STATIC ( School based )
TOY LIBRARY in Nagar Palika Prathmik School , Vadodara ( called KHEL VIGYAN
project )
Dinesh may want to talk to Rajvi to visit and submit
her findings , especially what the Children , the Parents and the Principal
thinks of this project

Although we are not interested in this project , broad
details are as under :

CTF are currently managing some 12 such MOBILE VAN
LIBRARIES , all over India
These vans go around 20 villages in close proximity (
so that they do not need to spend much time on the road ) , at one village per
day
Even driver is trained to conduct games !
Each van carries 4 teachers in addition to the driver
CTF has a tie-up with some or other school , in each
village being visited, whose local staff take care of local “ organizing
“ with the villagers
These MOBILE LIBRARIES are sponsored by Companies
under their CSR obligation
